ASHCROFT T4/T7 Series Temperature Switches

The Ashcroft T4/T7 Series Temperature Switches provide reliable temperature control, shutdown, and alarm operation for industrial applications. Westech Industrial offers both the T4 NEMA 4X Temperature Switch and the T7 NEMA 7/9 Explosion Proof Temperature Switch for customers in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

These Ashcroft temperature switches help protect equipment, improve process visibility, and support safer operation. The T4 model suits watertight applications that require NEMA 4X and IP66 protection. The T7 model supports hazardous locations that require explosion-proof protection.

Each switch uses precision snap-acting micro switch operation. Users can select SPDT or dual SPDT configurations, depending on the control requirement. In addition, the single setpoint adjusts from 0–100% of the range. This gives maintenance and operations teams practical flexibility during setup.

Westech Industrial can support product selection, replacement planning, and application review. We can also help integrate Ashcroft temperature switches into custom fabricated panels, analyzer packages, process skids, or site-specific assemblies.

Description

T4 and T7 Options for Different Area Requirements

The Ashcroft T4/T7 Series gives users two enclosure options on one product platform. The T4 Temperature Switch uses a watertight enclosure that meets NEMA 3, 4, 4X, 13, and IP66 requirements. This makes it a strong fit for washdown, outdoor, and demanding industrial environments.

The T7 Temperature Switch uses an explosion-proof enclosure for hazardous applications. It meets NEMA 3, 4, 7, and 9, and IP66 requirements. As a result, it suits many process areas that need added protection for control, alarm, or shutdown service.

Reliable Switching for Control, Alarm, and Shutdown

Ashcroft temperature switches use precision SPDT or dual SPDT snap-acting micro switch operation. This switching design helps support reliable response when temperature reaches the selected setpoint.

Users can select a single setpoint that adjusts across 0–100% of the range. The setpoint can come factory-set or field adjustable. The T4 also includes an internal setpoint locking screw, which helps prevent unwanted changes after setup.

The series also supports fixed or limited adjustable deadband. This helps users match switch performance to the process requirement.

Direct or Remote Mount Thermal Systems

The T4/T7 Series supports direct mount and remote mount thermal systems. Direct mount options use rigid stem lengths from 2¾ inches to 24 inches. Remote mount options use capillary lengths from 5 feet to 25 feet, in 5-foot increments.

This flexibility helps when process access, vibration, heat, or enclosure placement affects installation. For example, a remote mount configuration can help position the switch away from difficult areas while keeping the sensing bulb at the measurement point.

Broad Temperature Range Selection

The Ashcroft T4/T7 Series supports temperature ranges from -40°F to 750°F. Standard ranges include -40°F to 60°F, 0°F to 100°F, 75°F to 205°F, 150°F to 260°F, 235°F to 375°F, 350°F to 525°F, and 500°F to 750°F.

The 500°F to 750°F range only applies to remote mount systems. Also, the 350°F to 525°F range does not apply with 2¾-inch or 4-inch direct mount bulb lengths.

Configurable Switch Elements and Options

The T4/T7 Series offers a wide selection of switch elements. Options include narrow deadband, ammonia service, hermetically sealed, heavy-duty AC, general purpose, heavy-duty DC, manual reset, variable deadband, and dual switch configurations.

Hermetically sealed micro switches can improve reliability and safety in suitable applications. Low-level gold contacts also support low-energy switching needs.

Additional options include stainless steel tagging, chained cover, conduit bushings, metric electrical conduit connection, factory adjusted setpoint, range scale, pipe mounting bracket, and traceable calibration certificate. Additional configuration options for the T7 include ATEX, 316L stainless steel housing, and terminal blocks. CSA approvals are also available, with CSA noted as standard on 400 Series configurations.
