Description

Explosion-Proof Protection for Hazardous Locations

The Ashcroft B7 Pressure Switch uses a Type 700 explosion-proof enclosure for demanding hazardous-area installations. The enclosure meets Div. 1 and 2, NEMA 7, 9 and IP66 requirements, making it suitable for locations where rugged protection matters. The standard housing uses epoxy-coated aluminum. For applications that need enhanced corrosion resistance, a 316 stainless steel housing option is available.

This construction helps the B7 pressure switch perform in tough industrial environments. It also supports applications exposed to weather, process contaminants, washdown conditions or corrosive surroundings. As a result, facilities can use the B7 in locations where ordinary pressure switches may not offer enough protection.

Adjustable Setpoints and Repeatable Performance

The B7 pressure switch supports factory-set or field-adjustable setpoints. Operators can generally set the switch between 15% and 100% of the nominal range on increasing pressure. This flexibility helps teams match the switch to process control, alarm or shutdown needs.

The switch provides ±1% of full range setpoint repeatability with an additional setpoint shift of 1% of range per 50°F from initial set-point set at 70°F typical. Therefore, users gain consistent switching performance across normal operating conditions. The B7 also allows pressure and vacuum range selection, which helps teams cover applications from low-pressure measurement to higher-pressure process control.

Multiple Switch Element Options

Ashcroft offers a wide selection of switch elements for the B7 pressure switch. Options include SPDT and DPDT electrical outputs, as well as general-purpose, narrow deadband, hermetically sealed, sealed environment-proof, high-temperature and low-level gold contact configurations.

This range allows customers to align the switch with their electrical load, control strategy and application requirements. For example, hermetically sealed contacts can support added reliability in demanding environments. Gold contacts can help with low-level switching applications. Additionally, dual switch options allow two SPDT outputs where the application requires separate functions.

Diaphragm Material Selection for Process Compatibility

The Ashcroft B7 Pressure Switch offers several diaphragm material options. Available materials include Buna-N, Viton™, Teflon™, stainless steel, and Monel®. These choices help match the switch to the process media, temperature and corrosion requirements.

Process temperature limits depend on the diaphragm material. Buna-N and Teflon™ support 0°F to 150°F. Viton™ supports 20°F to 300°F. Stainless steel and Monel® support 0°F to 300°F. Because each process has different chemical and temperature conditions, material selection plays an important role in long-term reliability.

Built for Industrial Pressure Applications

The B7 pressure switch supports pressure ranges from vacuum to 3,000 psi. It also works in applications where shock and vibration may create challenges. In extreme services, the B7 can work with diaphragm seals to help isolate the switch from slurries or abrasive process fluids.

Optional features support more application needs. Available options include a chained cover, ATEX/IECEx rating with the XCN option, traceable calibration certificate, factory-adjusted setpoint, terminal block, stainless steel tagging, reducing bushing, metric conduit connection, 316 stainless steel pressure connection and oxygen cleaning where compatible.
