Rosemount™ 925FGD Fixed Gas Detector

The Rosemount 925FGD Fixed Gas Detector is designed for accurate, real-time detection of combustible hydrocarbon gases in demanding industrial environments. Built around Emerson’s Rosemount 925 Gas Detection Transmitter and Rosemount 625ND Non-Dispersive Infrared Sensor, this fixed gas detection system monitors hydrocarbon gas concentrations from 0–100% LEL to help protect personnel, assets, and process operations.

Engineered for oil and gas production, refining, petrochemical processing, LNG, pipeline operations, power generation, and hazardous material storage areas, the Rosemount 925FGD combines rugged construction with smart sensor technology, digital communication, and flexible mounting options. The detector can be installed as a direct-mount unit or configured for remote sensor mounting using the Rosemount 905 Junction Box, making it suitable for applications where the sensor must be positioned closer to the potential gas source while the transmitter remains accessible for operators.

The Rosemount 925FGD is available with 4–20 mA output, HART® 7 communication, and relay outputs, allowing it to integrate into both modern and legacy safety systems. Its Local Operator Interface displays live readings, alerts, and diagnostic information while supporting calibration and maintenance activities without the need for external tools or handheld communicators.

Westech Industrial supports the Rosemount 925FGD Fixed Gas Detector in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan with product selection assistance, application support, lifecycle service, and custom fabrication capabilities. For facilities requiring a more complete fixed gas detection solution, Westech can help with system integration, panel fabrication, mounting considerations, and site-specific support to ensure the detector fits the application and operating environment.

Description

Non-Dispersive Infrared Combustible Gas Detection

The Rosemount 925FGD uses the Rosemount 625ND Non-Dispersive Infrared Sensor to detect combustible hydrocarbon gases. This fixed gas detector measures gas concentrations from 0–100% LEL for industrial safety applications. In addition, NDIR technology supports stable hydrocarbon gas detection in harsh operating environments. It also helps facilities monitor gases such as methane, ethane, propane, n-butane, and ethylene.

Smart Sensor Module Design

The Rosemount 625 sensor modules store configuration, calibration, and gas-sensing data directly within the sensor. As a result, the transmitter can recognize a newly connected sensor and upload its configuration profile. This smart design helps simplify sensor replacement and reduce maintenance time. In addition, users can calibrate sensors off-site and install them later.

Local Operator Interface for Easier Field Use

The integrated Local Operator Interface displays real-time gas concentration readings, alert status, and diagnostic information. Operators can complete calibration and maintenance activities through the display. Therefore, they do not need additional tools or handheld communicators for many routine tasks. The LOI helps make this fixed gas detector easier to use in the field.

Flexible Direct or Remote Mounting

The Rosemount 925FGD supports direct sensor mounting or remote sensor mounting. For remote installations, the Rosemount 905 Junction Box connects the sensor to the transmitter. This flexibility helps place the sensor near a potential gas source. Meanwhile, operators can keep the transmitter in a more accessible location.

4–20 mA, HART® 7, and Relay Outputs

The Rosemount 925FGD provides 4–20 mA output with HART® 7 communication. It also includes three physical relays: two programmable alarm relays and one fault relay. Therefore, facilities can connect the detector to control, safety, and monitoring systems. HART communication also supports access to device configuration and diagnostic information.

Built for Harsh Industrial Conditions

The Rosemount 925FGD is built for demanding process environments. It offers aluminum or stainless steel housing options for different site requirements. In addition, the enclosure provides NEMA® 4X and IP66 protection. The detector operates from -40°F to +158°F / -40°C to +70°C. As a result, it supports reliable operation in challenging industrial conditions.

Fast Response for Combustible Gas Hazards

The Rosemount 925FGD provides fast response times for common combustible hydrocarbon gases. It supports T50 response in less than 7 seconds. It also supports T90 response in less than 10 seconds. This fast response helps facilities identify combustible gas leaks quickly. Consequently, operators can respond sooner to developing safety concerns.

Hazardous Area and Functional Safety Certifications

The Rosemount 925FGD is available with hazardous area approvals for industrial applications. Certification options include ATEX/UKEX, IECEx, US, and Canadian approvals. In addition, SIL2 functional safety certification is available for IEC 61508 applications. This makes the fixed gas detector suitable for safety-focused facilities with demanding compliance needs.

Applications

The Rosemount 925FGD Fixed Gas Detector is suitable for combustible gas detection in areas where hydrocarbon gas leaks may create personnel safety risks, fire hazards, process shutdown concerns, or emissions-related issues.

Common applications include oil and gas production sites, compressor stations, well pads, refining facilities, petrochemical plants, LNG operations, pipeline facilities, power generation plants, hazardous material storage areas, loading racks, process units, fuel gas systems, tank farms, and industrial facilities where methane, ethane, propane, butane, ethylene, or similar hydrocarbon gases may be present.

For Canadian industrial sites, the Rosemount 925FGD is particularly useful where fixed gas detection needs to be rugged, serviceable, and easy to integrate into existing safety systems. Westech Industrial can support product selection, site-specific configuration, system integration, and custom-fabricated gas detection solutions for facilities in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
