Rosemount™ 625IR Fixed Gas Detector
The Rosemount 625IR Fixed Gas Detector is an optical infrared gas detector designed for reliable combustible hydrocarbon gas detection in harsh industrial environments. Built for demanding oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, refining, power generation, tank storage, and gas transportation applications, the Rosemount 625IR provides fast response, stable performance, and low-maintenance operation where combustible gases may be present.
Using dual-band optical absorption technology, the Rosemount 625IR detects target hydrocarbon gases by measuring how infrared light is absorbed as gas passes through the sensing path. This solid-state infrared design helps deliver dependable detection without consumable sensor components, making it well suited for hazardous locations where long-term stability, rugged construction, and reduced maintenance requirements are important.
The detector is factory calibrated for life and features continuous self-verification, no zero or span drift, heated optics, and multiple output options for integration into plant safety systems. Long probe duct-mounted versions are also available for applications where gas monitoring is required within ducts, pipes, ventilation systems, or other enclosed flow paths.
Available through Westech Industrial in BC, AB, and SK.

Description
Optical Infrared Detection for Combustible Gases
The Rosemount 625IR uses optical infrared technology to detect combustible hydrocarbon gases. It monitors methane or propane across a 0–100% LEL range. As a result, facilities can support reliable combustible gas detection in demanding industrial environments. This infrared combustible gas detector provides stable performance for hazardous applications where fast detection matters.
Fast Response for Critical Safety Monitoring
The Rosemount 625IR responds quickly when combustible gas enters the sensing path. With the environment shield installed, it provides a T90 response time of 2 seconds. Without the environment shield, it delivers a T90 response time of less than 1 second. Therefore, operators can identify potential gas leaks sooner. This fast response helps support timely action from plant safety systems.
Factory Calibration for Life
The Rosemount 625IR is calibrated at the factory and does not require field calibration. This helps reduce routine maintenance and supports long-term measurement stability. In addition, the detector continuously checks its infrared sources and receivers. These internal checks help maintain calibration stability throughout the detector’s service life.
Heated Optics for Harsh Conditions
The detector includes heated optics to help disperse moisture from the optical surfaces. This feature supports dependable operation in outdoor and harsh-weather installations. For example, it helps address moisture from humidity, rain, snow, and changing temperatures. As a result, facilities can use the detector in challenging industrial locations.
Continuous Self-Verification
Built-in self-diagnostics continuously monitor key detector functions. Consequently, operators can better understand detector condition and plan maintenance with more confidence. These diagnostics also help reduce the risk of unexpected downtime. In critical safety applications, this added visibility can support stronger operational reliability.
Hazardous Area and Safety Certifications
The Rosemount 625IR is approved for hazardous locations and certified to SIL2 functional safety standards. Certification options include Canada explosion-proof, US explosion-proof, ATEX flameproof, and IECEx flameproof approvals. Additionally, combined USA, Canada, ATEX, and IECEx explosion-proof options are available. This makes the detector suitable for many industrial gas detection applications.
Flexible Mounting and Duct Options
The Rosemount 625IR is available as a standalone optical infrared gas detector. It is also available in duct-mounted versions with 5.9-inch or 13.8-inch extensions. Therefore, facilities can use it for open-area monitoring or duct applications. Accessories include pole mounting kits, duct flange kits, sunshades, mosquito nets, and environment shields. Gas nozzles, bump test housings, remote bump test kits, and gas-free testers are also available.
Multiple Communication Outputs
The detector supports analog 4–20 mA output, HART digital communication, and RS-485 Modbus RTU. These outputs help connect the detector to plant safety systems and control platforms. In turn, teams can support gas detection, diagnostics, and condition monitoring from existing systems. This infrared combustible gas detector helps facilities strengthen combustible gas monitoring with flexible integration options.
Applications
The Rosemount 625IR Fixed Gas Detector is used in industrial environments where hydrocarbon gas leaks may create combustible gas hazards. Typical applications include oil and gas facilities, offshore and onshore process facilities, pipelines, FPSOs, FLNG vessels, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, power generation facilities, tank storage and offloading areas, refineries, gas filling terminals, gas distribution facilities, gas transport systems, and hazardous industrial areas where methane or propane detection is required.
It is also suitable for duct and ventilation monitoring applications when configured with the appropriate duct-mounted version and accessories.
