The Net Safety SC310 Catalytic Bead Combustible Gas Sensor is designed for reliable fixed combustible gas detection in demanding industrial environments. Built for use with the Millennium II Series transmitters, including the M21, M22, and M2B, the SC310 provides fast and dependable 0–100% LEL detection for a wide range of flammable gases. Its non-selective catalytic bead sensing technology allows it to detect both hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon combustible gases, including methane, propane, butane, ethylene, propylene, and hydrogen.
Engineered for harsh process environments, the SC310 combines rugged housing options, strong resistance to shock and vibration, and stable performance with minimal zero drift related to pressure, humidity, and temperature changes. The sensor’s built-in SensorGuard protection system helps reduce premature sensor burnout during exposure to high gas concentrations, supporting longer sensor life and dependable field performance.

Description
Reliable 0–100% LEL Combustible Gas Detection
The SC310 combustible gas sensor monitors flammable gas hazards across a 0–100% LEL detection range. It uses catalytic bead sensing technology to support dependable fixed combustible gas monitoring. As a result, facilities can detect combustible gas leaks before they create a greater safety risk. The sensor also supports continuous monitoring in demanding industrial applications. Therefore, it is well suited for sites where reliable LEL detection remains critical.
Detects a Broad Range of Combustible Gases
The SC310 provides a non-selective response to hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon combustible gases. This helps reduce the need for multiple gas-specific detection devices. In addition, it can detect common industrial gases such as methane, propane, n-butane, and hydrogen. It also detects ethane, pentane, hexane, heptane, ethylene, and propylene. SensorGuard Protection for Longer Service Life
The SC310 includes SensorGuard technology to help protect the sensing element during high gas exposure. When gas concentrations exceed 100% LEL, SensorGuard helps prevent sensor oversaturation. This protection can reduce premature sensor burnout in areas with concentrated gas. As a result, the sensor can provide longer service life and stronger field reliability. This feature also supports the SC310’s five-year sensor warranty.

The SC310 is designed for rugged field performance in extreme industrial environments. Its housing provides strong resistance to shock and vibration. In addition, the sensor maintains stable performance with minimal zero drift. Pressure, humidity, and temperature changes have limited impact on zero drift. Therefore, the SC310 supports dependable monitoring in challenging outdoor and hazardous area locations.
Compatible with Millennium II Transmitters
The SC310 works with Net Safety Millennium II Series transmitters, including the M21, M22, and M2B. This compatibility allows facilities to build single or dual channel gas detection systems. Users can also mix toxic and combustible gas sensors on one Millennium II transmitter. As a result, facilities can simplify system design and reduce unnecessary detector installations.
Long-Range Sensor Separation
The SC310 supports sensor separation up to 2,000 feet or 600 metres with 18 AWG cabling. This gives installers more flexibility when planning field layouts. For example, the sensor can remain near the detection point. Meanwhile, the transmitter can be installed in a more accessible location. This separation helps improve service access while maintaining effective gas detection coverage.
Fast Response and Stable Performance
The SC310 delivers fast response times for combustible gas monitoring. With a T90 response time of 12 seconds or less, it supports timely hazard awareness. In addition, repeatable readings and stable accuracy help operators respond with confidence. This makes the SC310 a practical option for safety-critical monitoring points.
Accessories for Field Installation
Available accessories help support installation, calibration, and environmental protection. Options include termination boxes, calibration cups, rain shields, splash guards, and dust filters. Sunshade assemblies and universal mounting kits can support transmitter and junction box installations exposed to sunlight.
