Jacoby-Tarbox Bulls-Eye Sight Flow Indicators – Flanged (Clark Reliance)
Jacoby-Tarbox flanged sight flow indicators give operators a direct, full-bore view of process conditions. The product line covers ASME Classes 150, 300, 600, 900, and 1500. It also includes 90° long-radius configurations for Class 150 and Class 300 piping.
These bulls-eye sight flow indicators support liquids, slurries, gases, and solids. Operators can observe flow presence, colour, clarity, air entrainment, and process interfaces. The opening matches or exceeds the pipe’s inside diameter. Therefore, the design provides 100% unobstructed process observation.
Jacoby-Tarbox engineers these units using ASME B31.1 and B31.3 design criteria. ASTM-listed materials support the pressure-retaining construction. The product line also supports CRN registration for all Canadian provinces, API 614, and applicable NACE requirements. Jacoby-Tarbox can also apply PED tagging when specified during ordering.
Customers can choose plain, flapper, rotor, drip, or flutter gas indicator configurations. Window choices include tempered borosilicate, quartz, UniShield® protected glass, and UniGlas® fused safety windows. Available materials and gasket options help match different temperatures, pressures, and process media.
Jacoby-Tarbox flanged sight flow indicators are available across Canada through Westech Industrial. Westech can help select the pressure class, materials, windows, gaskets, and indicator style. Additionally, our service and Custom Fabrication teams can support integration into larger process and analyzer systems.

Description
Full-Bore Visibility with Flanged Sight Flow Indicators
Jacoby-Tarbox’s Flanged Sight Flow Indicators maximizes the visible area through the process line. The internal view matches or exceeds the pipe’s inside diameter. As a result, operators receive a clear, unobstructed view of liquids, slurries, gases, and solids.
This full-bore design also helps personnel evaluate process properties without opening the piping system. Operators can observe colour, clarity, entrained air, interfaces, and the presence or absence of material.
Non-rotor models maintain unrestricted internal openings. No internal opening measures smaller than the pipe’s inside diameter. Therefore, these configurations minimize pressure loss while maintaining a clear process view.
ASME Classes for Standard and High-Pressure Service
The Class 150 series supports single-window and dual-window configurations. Both versions carry listed pressure values up to 290 psig, depending on the selected body material.
For higher pressures, customers can select Class 300, 600, 900, or 1500 units. Listed maximum pressures reach 750 psig for Class 300 and 1,500 psig for Class 600. Class 900 units reach 2,250 psig, while Class 1500 configurations reach 3,750 psig.
However, the final pressure rating depends on the chosen body material and its ASME B16.5 material group. The selected windows, gaskets, and other components also affect the complete unit rating.
Plain, Flapper, Flutter, Rotor, Drip and Gas Indicator Options
Jacoby-Tarbox offers several indicators for different process conditions.
The plain model provides an open, bidirectional process view. It supports horizontal or vertical piping and confirms fluid presence or absence.
The flapper model uses a weighted 316 stainless steel flapper and pin. Its position changes with the flow and provides a simple visual indication. This unidirectional design supports horizontal piping or vertical upward flow.
The rotor model indicates relative process velocity through rotor speed. Standard configurations use a PTFE rotor with a 316 stainless steel pin. Customers can also select a 316 stainless steel rotor for incompatible media or higher temperatures. This bi-directional design supports horizontal or vertical piping.
The drip model uses a 316 stainless steel drip tube. It suits condensing gases and partially full liquid lines. Depending on the installation, it supports horizontal or vertically downward flow.
The gas indicator uses an ultralight PTFE indicator with a 316 stainless steel mount. It supports gas service and low-velocity liquid flow in full lines.
The PTFE flutter is an alternative indicator option for the 910 series.
Window and Shield Options for Process Conditions
Standard units use tempered borosilicate windows. A single-window unit includes one window on each side, for two windows in total.
Customers can also select an FM-approved dual-window configuration. This design includes two tempered borosilicate windows on each side, for four windows in total.
Additional choices help address chemical exposure and elevated temperatures. UniShield® adds bonded PFA protection to the viewing window. Quartz glass supports applications requiring higher window temperature capability. UniGlas® fused safety windows include steel, Hastelloy® C, or Duplex stainless steel ring options.
The complete temperature rating always follows the lowest-rated selected component. Therefore, body, window, gasket, trim, and indicator materials must work together.
90° Long-Radius Design Reduces Piping Requirements
The 90° flanged sight flow indicator combines an elbow and process viewing point. This design can reduce the number of flanges, welds, and separate piping components. Consequently, it can lower system weight and conserve installation space.
Customers can select Class 150 or Class 300 90° units. Plain configurations allow bidirectional viewing of the presence or absence of fluid in horizontal or vertical installations. Drip configurations allow uni-directional viewing of condensing gases and partially full liquid lines in downward installations.
An optional threaded or flanged top connection can mount compatible instruments. These instruments may include pressure gauges, thermometers, and flow switches. Additional threaded or flanged connections can also support customized system requirements.
Materials, Linings and Gaskets
Available body materials vary by model and pressure class. Choices can include carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, bronze, 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy® C, Alloy 20, Monel®, and Duplex stainless steel.
Customers can select standard ASME-flanged or PFA-lined bodies. Selected models also support couplings, vents, or three-way configurations. When customers specify a PFA-lined unit, they must also select the compatible PTFE indicator configuration.
Gasket choices can include neoprene, Gylon® 3545, IFG® 5500 fibre, graphite, and FKM. However, Class 900 and Class 1500 units do not offer neoprene or FKM gaskets.
Hydrotested Construction and Code Support
Jacoby-Tarbox hydrotests each unit according to its established testing schedule. The units also use integrally cast ASME flanges within the listed size ranges.
The flanged sight flow indicator line supports ASME B31.1 and B31.3 design criteria. CRN coverage applies across all Canadian provinces. The line also supports API 614 and NACE MR0175, ISO 15156, and MR0103 requirements for wetted metals.
For projects requiring PED compliance, customers should request the appropriate tagging when ordering.
