Jacoby-Tarbox Bolt-On & Security Sight Windows (Clark Reliance)

Jacoby-Tarbox Bolt-On and Security Sight Windows give operators direct visual access to tanks, vessels and process equipment. The product range supports economical observation from light-duty installations through demanding severe-service applications.

Model 5800 uses a UniGlas® window with a retaining flange. Together, these components convert a compatible flange or studding outlet into a dependable observation port. The UniGlas construction increases resistance to impact, pressure changes, installation stress and thermal shock.

Style 5005-DW incorporates a patented dual-window security design. It adds protection against stress concentration, thermal shock, corrosion, erosion, overpressure and external mechanical forces. The assembly bolts to ANSI-standard flanges or studding outlets with corresponding flange dimensions.

Westech Industrial supplies Jacoby-Tarbox bolt-on sight windows throughout Canada. Our team can help confirm the appropriate style, size, pressure rating, window design and lining. Westech also provides technical service and Custom Fabrication support for integration into larger process systems.

Description

Bolt-On & Security Sight Windows for Existing Connections

Jacoby-Tarbox bolt-on & security sight windows create visual access through compatible flanges and studding outlets. Therefore, facilities can add an observation point without selecting a weld-on window design.

Style 5005-DW attaches to ANSI-standard flanges or studding outlets with ANSI flange connection dimensions. The available size and class must match the existing connection. Model 5800 combines a UniGlas window with a retaining flange for a complete observation-port assembly.

Model 5800 UniGlas® Observation Port

The Model 5800 uses a UniGlas window within its bolt-on assembly. UniGlas fuses the glass to a machined metal outer ring, creating one integrated disc.

The metal ring distributes installation forces around the window. Consequently, retaining forces do not concentrate directly against exposed glass edges. This construction increases resistance to impact, pressure, thermal stress and installation damage.

The integrated design also supports clear process viewing. Operators can use the observation port to check liquid presence, process movement, colour, mixing and other visible conditions.

Style 5005-DW Dual-Window Security Design

The Style 5005-DW security sight window incorporates the patented Dual Window design. The additional window protection increases security in demanding process environments.

The dual-window configuration helps limit the effects of damage to one window element. It also provides greater protection against several common causes of sight window failure. Projects requiring FM approval should specify the applicable approved configuration during selection.

Protection for Severe-Service Applications

The 5005-DW helps address stress concentration, which can place uneven forces on the window. Its construction distributes mechanical loads across the assembly more effectively.

The design also increases protection against sudden temperature changes. Additionally, the security configuration helps reduce risks from corrosion, erosion and external mechanical impact.

Overpressure can place substantial stress on a conventional sight window. Jacoby-Tarbox security sight windows provide added protection for applications where pressure changes require a more robust viewing solution.

Corrosion-Resistant Lining Options

Jacoby-Tarbox offers lined configurations for corrosive process conditions. Style 5005-TFE provides a lined option for severe corrosion service.

Depending on the selected configuration, lining choices can include TFE or PTFE, PFA, rubber, FRP and PVC. Each material supports different chemical and operating requirements. Therefore, users should confirm compatibility with the actual process media.

Westech can review the media, pressure, temperature and connection requirements before recommending a lining.

Full Vacuum Through High-Pressure Service

Available configurations cover pressures from full vacuum through 1,500 psig, or approximately 103 bar. However, the final rating depends on the selected model, size, flange class and construction.

The Style 5005-DW brochure lists 150, 300 and 600-pound flange classes across its standard size range. Higher-pressure configurations may also be available for specific requirements.

Multiple Sizes for Process Equipment

Style 5005-DW comes in nominal sizes from 2 through 8 inches. Standard listed sizes include 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 inches.

Each size includes configurations for several flange classes. Therefore, facilities can match the security sight window to a broad range of compatible vessel and equipment connections.

Omni-Positional Viewing

The 5005-DW does not contain a flow indicator or directional component. As a result, the assembly supports installation in any orientation.

This flexibility suits horizontal, vertical and angled viewing locations. However, the selected mounting arrangement must still provide safe access and a clear viewing position.

Applications

Jacoby-Tarbox bolt-on and security sight windows support local process observation across many industrial systems. Model selection depends on the connection, pressure, process media and required level of window protection.

  • Tank and vessel observation ports
  • Pressure vessel viewing connections
  • Compatible ANSI flanges and studding outlets
  • Process pipelines and related equipment
  • Chemical processing and refining equipment
  • Pumps, compressors and filters
  • Autoclaves and vacuum equipment
  • Corrosive applications requiring lined construction
  • Severe-service installations requiring dual-window protection
  • Systems operating from full vacuum through high pressure
  • New process equipment and compatible retrofit projects
  • General manufacturing and fabrication systems

PRODUCT FAQ's

What is the difference between Model 5800 and Style 5005-DW?
Model 5800 combines a UniGlas window with a retaining flange. It converts a compatible flange or studding outlet into an observation port. Style 5005-DW uses a dual-window security design. It provides additional protection for more demanding service conditions.
How does a bolt-on sight window attach to process equipment?
The assembly bolts to a compatible flange or studding outlet. Style 5005-DW follows ANSI-standard flange connection dimensions. Users must match the size, flange class and connection dimensions before installation.
What pressure range do these sight windows support?
Available configurations cover full vacuum through 1,500 psig, or approximately 103 bar. The selected model, size and connection class determine the final pressure rating. Style 5005-DW lists standard 150, 300 and 600-pound flange classes. Higher-pressure configurations may support other requirements.
What does the dual-window security design protect against?
The 5005-DW design adds protection against concentrated stress, thermal shock, corrosion, erosion, overpressure and external mechanical forces. It suits applications that require greater security than a basic single-window assembly.
Which lining options support corrosive applications?
Style 5005-TFE supports severe corrosion conditions. Other options can include PTFE, PFA, rubber, FRP and PVC, depending on the selected construction. Westech can review the process media and operating conditions before confirming the appropriate lining.
Can the 5005-DW mount in any position?
Yes. The 5005-DW contains no directional flow indicator. Therefore, it supports installation in any orientation. The installation must still provide suitable access, visibility and mechanical support.
How can Westech Industrial support my sight window application?
Westech can help select the model, size, flange class, pressure rating, window design and lining. Our technical service team can also support installation, maintenance and product troubleshooting. Additionally, Westech’s Custom Fabrication team can integrate Jacoby-Tarbox sight windows into larger process systems and equipment packages. Westech supplies these solutions throughout Canada.
