Description
Multi-Spectrum QuadBand Triple IR Detection
The FS24X flame detector uses Multi-Spectrum QuadBand Triple IR technology for demanding fire detection applications. It senses WideBand IR radiant energy across four sensor bands. These bands span approximately 0.4 to 5.0 microns. As a result, the detector can identify hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon flames. This makes it a strong choice for industrial fire protection systems.
WideBand IR and Visible Detection Technology
The FS24X combines WideBand IR™, WideBand 4.3 micron IR™, and visible detection technology. Together, these technologies help the detector recognize fire signatures with greater confidence. In addition, the visible sensor helps support false alarm rejection. This is important in sites with sunlight, lamps, heaters, or welding activity.
Strong False Alarm Rejection
The detector uses patented Electronic Frequency Analysis™ and advanced software algorithms. These features help separate real fire events from common nuisance sources. Therefore, operators can rely on more stable flame detection in challenging environments. The FS24X also supports dependable performance in applications with changing light and process conditions.
Selectable Sensitivity Levels
The FS24X includes four switch-selectable sensitivity settings. Users can choose Very High, High, Medium, or Low sensitivity. This flexibility helps match the detector to the required coverage area. It also allows teams to adjust the response profile for each application. As a result, facilities can improve detection layout and system performance.
Wide Field-of-View Options
The detector is available with different field-of-view options. The FS24X-2 offers a 110° cone of vision. Meanwhile, the FS24X-9 provides a 90° cone of vision. These options help support different flame detection layouts. They also help users manage coverage in open areas, equipment rooms, or controlled viewing zones.
Dual Microprocessor Reliability
Dual microprocessors help the FS24X process signals quickly and reliably. One microprocessor handles high-speed sampling and signal processing. The second microprocessor manages sensor data, communications, self-diagnostics, and memory functions. Therefore, the detector supports dependable operation in critical industrial safety applications.
FirePic™ and Event Logging
FirePic™ stores pre-fire event data in non-volatile memory. This data can support review after a fire event. In addition, the detector includes an event log with date and time stamp. These features help maintenance teams investigate alarms, review detector activity, and support troubleshooting.
Flexible Outputs and Communication
The FS24X supports several output and communication options. These include alarm, fault, and auxiliary relays. It also supports non-isolated 0–20 mA analog output, RS-485 ModBus, and RS-485 FireBus II. Optional HART communication is also available on applicable models. Therefore, the detector can integrate with many fire and safety systems.
Automatic Optical Path and Electronic Self-Test
Built-in through-the-lens self-testing monitors the detector’s optical path. It also checks the sensor array and electronics module. This helps identify window lens obscuration or detector faults. As a result, maintenance teams can respond before performance is affected.
Rugged Hazardous-Area Construction
The FS24X is built for demanding hazardous-area applications. It is available in copper-free powder coated aluminum or 316 stainless steel. The enclosure carries IP66 and NEMA 4 & 4X ratings. In addition, the detector offers high EMI and RFI immunity. This rugged design helps support reliable operation in harsh industrial environments.
