Description

Multi-Spectrum UV/Dual IR/VIS Flame Detection

The FS20X uses a combination of ultraviolet, visible, near band infrared and wide band infrared sensing to detect radiant energy from fire. This multi-spectrum approach allows the detector to respond to both hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon flames, making it suitable for a wide variety of industrial fire hazards.

Long-Range Fire Detection

With a detection range greater than 60 m / 200 ft for a 0.1 m² / 1 sq. ft. n-Heptane reference fire at the very high sensitivity setting, the FS20X offers extended coverage for larger industrial areas. Its four selectable sensitivity settings allow users to adjust detection distance based on the application.

Fast Response with False Alarm Rejection

The FS20X is designed for fast, false-alarm-resistant response. Patented signal processing, electronic frequency analysis and visible sensor input help distinguish real flame signatures from common false alarm sources. The detector also offers arc welding immunity, making it suitable for challenging industrial settings.

Performance in Challenging Visibility Conditions

If the ultraviolet signal is reduced by heavy smoke or lens contamination, the FS20X’s WideBand IR, Near Band IR and visible sensors can still respond to fire, although with reduced sensitivity and slower response. This helps support dependable flame detection in real-world industrial environments where conditions are not always ideal.

Configurable Outputs and Communications

The FS20X provides flexible integration options, including alarm, fault and auxiliary relays, a user-selectable 0-20 mA analog output, RS-485 ModBus, RS-485 FireBus II and optional HART communication with the FSX-A014 plug-in module for applicable configurations (HART is not available on EN54-10 units). These options make it easier to connect the detector into a range of control and safety systems.

Built-In Self-Test and Diagnostics

Automatic optical path and electronic self-testing help monitor detector health, window condition and sensor operation. The FS20X also includes FirePic™ pre-fire event storage and an event log with date and time stamps, supporting diagnostics, troubleshooting and incident review.

Rugged Industrial Design

Available with copper-free powder coated aluminum or 316 stainless steel enclosure options, the FS20X is built for industrial and hazardous area use. IP66, NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X enclosure ratings support reliable performance in demanding indoor and outdoor environments.

Field-Friendly Installation and Maintenance

Plug-in terminations, selectable configuration switches, visual LED indicators and optional swivel bracket mounting help simplify installation and commissioning. Green, red and yellow LEDs provide quick visual indication of power/normal status, alarm and fault conditions.
