Cornerstone TE-4 Top-Entry Ball Valve
The Cornerstone TE-4 ball valve combines a one-piece body, top-entry access, and a floating ball design for severe service applications. Cornerstone designed the TE-4 to provide strength, reliable isolation, and practical in-line maintenance.
Its rigid one-piece body helps minimize potential leak paths when piping experiences stress or flexing. At the same time, the top-entry design gives maintenance teams access to internal components without removing the valve body from the line. The valve body can remain welded in place while crews replace internal parts.
The TE-4 uses a proprietary metal-to-metal, pressure-energized C-Lock bonnet seal with self-alignment seal memory. Cornerstone also uses 360-degree lapped surfaces to eliminate coating transition peaks and reduce friction during cycling.
This second-generation top-entry ball valve supports temperatures from -20°F to +1,350°F. Higher-temperature configurations are also available. Pressure classes range from ANSI/ASME 150 through 4500. In addition, Cornerstone offers several body materials, end connections, bore configurations, and actuation options.
Cornerstone type-tests the TE-4 with high-pressure nitrogen gas to achieve zero bubbles. The valve also carries a 60-month, five-year zero-leakage guarantee.

Description
One-Piece Rigid Body for Demanding Service
The Cornerstone TE-4 ball valve uses a rigid, one-piece body for strength in demanding industrial applications. This design minimizes potential leak paths when piping experiences stress or flexing.
Fewer body joints also simplify the overall valve construction. Therefore, the TE-4 provides a strong foundation for severe service isolation applications.
True Top-Entry, In-Line Repairability
The TE-4 gives maintenance teams direct access to internal components through the top of the valve. Crews can service the internal components while keeping the valve body welded into the pipeline.
As a result, maintenance does not require crews to cut the complete valve body from the line. This feature separates the TE-4 from end-entry uni-body and three-piece valve designs referenced by Cornerstone.
In-line repairability can also reduce the amount of piping disturbance associated with valve maintenance. This becomes especially valuable where valve removal creates additional work around piping and welding.
Proprietary Metal-to-Metal C-Lock Bonnet Seal
Cornerstone equips the TE-4 with its proprietary C-Lock bonnet seal. This metal-to-metal seal uses a pressure-energized design with self-alignment seal memory.
The design supports a tight connection between the valve body and bonnet. Cornerstone identifies this body-to-bonnet sealing system as zero leakage and “bubble tight.”
This sealing technology complements the rigid valve body and supports the TE-4’s severe service design.
360-Degree Lapped Surfaces
Cornerstone laps the valve surfaces through a full 360 degrees. This process eliminates coating transition peaks that can create additional friction during valve cycling.
Reducing these transition peaks helps minimize high friction and operating torque. Consequently, the valve can maintain more consistent movement during repeated operation.
This feature works with the TE-4’s quarter-turn design to support reliable cycling in demanding process conditions.
Modular Trim Kit Simplifies Internal Maintenance
The TE-4 uses a modular trim kit for controlled replacement of a factory trim set. Maintenance teams can access and replace internal components from the top of the valve.
Meanwhile, the main valve body can remain installed in the line. This design creates a deliberate repair path without requiring complete valve removal.
The modular trim concept also supports the TE-4’s overall in-line repairable design.
Quick Quarter-Turn Operation
The floating ball design provides fast quarter-turn operation. Cornerstone designed this movement to reduce damage caused by high velocities across seating surfaces.
Slow-opening linear valves can expose seating surfaces to high process velocities for longer periods. In contrast, the TE-4 moves quickly between operating positions.

Flexible Bore Sizes and Scalable Design
Standard TE-4 bore sizes range from 1/2 inch through 4 inches. Cornerstone offers both full and reduced bore configurations and considers Cv during selection.

This flexibility allows customers to evaluate the valve for a broad range of process requirements.
Multiple End Connection Options
The TE-4 supports several common industrial piping connections. Available configurations include socket weld, butt weld, raised face, and ring-type joint connections.
Applicable connection standards include ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B16.11.
Cornerstone can also provide factory-installed weld pups. This option can eliminate field welding when the project design calls for factory-installed weld connections.
Manual or Automated Actuation
Customers can configure the TE-4 for manual or automated operation. Available options include a manual lever, gear operation, pneumatic actuation, hydraulic actuation, and electric actuation.
The manual configuration uses Cornerstone’s “Fits-Only-One-Way” lever operation.
Additionally, the valve includes a FA07 to FA25 pattern mounting bracket and removable lever as standard. This mounting arrangement supports different operating and automation requirements.
Broad Pressure, Temperature, and Material Selection
The TE-4 supports ANSI/ASME pressure classes from 150 through 4500. Its standard temperature range extends from -20°F to +1,350°F.
Cornerstone can also provide higher-temperature configurations.
Material options include carbon steel, stainless steel, Inconel, Chrome Molybendum, nickel-based alloys, and other exotic alloys upon request.
