Blackline Safety G8 Portable Gas Detector

The Blackline Safety G8 Portable Gas Detector is a connected safety wearable designed to combine multi-gas detection, lone worker protection, real-time communication, and cloud-connected visibility in one portable device. Built for demanding industrial environments, the G8 helps teams monitor gas exposure, worker status, location, and safety events in real time, supporting faster response when hazardous conditions or emergencies occur.

With flexible cartridge options, the Blackline Safety G8 can be configured for single-gas, multi-gas diffusion, multi-gas pumped, or lone worker applications. Cartridge selection supports up to four sensors and up to five gases, with access to a wide sensor range for applications involving toxic gases, oxygen, combustible gases, VOCs, and other hazardous gas risks.

At Westech Industrial, we supply and support the Blackline Safety G8 across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Our team can assist with product selection, configuration, application support, service requirements, and integration into broader safety programs. For facilities requiring more complete safety solutions, Westech also provides custom fabrication capabilities to support packaged systems, safety panels, shelters, and integrated site solutions.

Description

Connected Multi-Gas Detection

The G8 portable gas detector helps teams monitor gas hazards while maintaining real-time visibility into worker safety. Depending on the selected cartridge, the device supports up to four sensors and up to five gases. As a result, workers can carry one connected device for multiple safety functions. This helps reduce equipment complexity while improving access to gas exposure data.

Flexible Cartridge Options

The G8 supports swappable cartridge options for lone worker, single-gas, multi-gas diffusion, and multi-gas pumped applications. Therefore, teams can configure the device for different roles, sites, and monitoring requirements.

Wide Sensor Selection

The G8 offers a broad gas cartridge and sensor table for varied industrial applications. Available sensors include oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, ammonia, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, LEL-IR, LEL-MPS, and Photoionization (PID).

Real-Time Safety Visibility

With direct-to-cloud data sharing, the G8 helps teams see events as they happen. Blackline Live supports safety monitoring, device configuration, alert management, map location, and event history. As a result, supervisors can respond faster when a gas alarm or safety event occurs. This connected visibility also helps teams identify risks before they become larger operational issues.

Lone Worker Protection

The G8 portable gas detector also supports workers operating alone or in high-risk areas. It provides emergency SOS alerts, fall detection, no-motion alerts, missed check-in notifications, and proximity-based alerts. Therefore, teams can receive important safety notifications even when a worker cannot call for help directly.

Built-In Communication Tools

Optional push-to-talk functionality allows users to send and receive voice communications with other G8 devices. In addition, two-way talking and messaging help workers coordinate during routine tasks and emergency events. These communication tools can reduce delays and improve teamwork across larger facilities or remote work areas.

Location Awareness with Dual-Band GNSS

The G8 includes multi-constellation location support and a dual-band GNSS receiver. This helps improve worker location visibility across complex worksites. In turn, response teams can act with better situational awareness during alarms, incidents, or emergency calls.

Data, Reporting, and Compliance Support

Blackline Analytics gives teams access to centralized device data, exposure records, alerts, usage information, and event history. It also supports bump test and calibration records with downloadable certificates. Therefore, the platform can help simplify compliance review, reporting, and safety program improvement.

Built for Industrial Environments

The G8 uses a polycarbonate body over molded with static dissipative thermoplastic elastomer. It is also IP67 certified and rated for hazardous locations. As a result, the G8 portable gas detector is well suited for demanding industrial environments where connected safety is critical.

Applications

The Blackline Safety G8 Portable Gas Detector is suited for industrial, municipal, and emergency response environments where connected gas detection and worker safety visibility are required.

Common applications include:

  • Oil and gas operations
  • Petrochemical facilities
  • Manufacturing and processing plants
  • Municipal water and wastewater facilities
  • Fire departments and emergency response teams
  • Maintenance teams and turnaround crews
  • Lone worker applications
