ARJAY ENGINEERING 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm

The ARJAY ENGINEERING 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm monitors normally dry floors, containment areas, pans, vaults, and sub-floors for liquid leaks. It uses capacitance technology to detect liquid accumulation around the sensing puck and trigger an alarm when the monitored area changes from dry to wet.

This area leak alarm helps facilities monitor locations where leaks may collect before operators can see them. Teams can place sensor pads in key locations, tight spaces, containment floors, electrical vaults, computer rooms, pump stations, and valve or pump pans. Up to three sensing pucks can connect to one common control unit, which helps cover multiple risk points with one alarm system.

The 2852-LPS supports remote electronics using standard twisted pair wiring. As a result, the controller can mount away from the monitored spill area. The system also includes relay output, 4/20 mA alarm output, and Modbus RS-485 communication for integration into compatible monitoring systems.

Westech Industrial offers the ARJAY 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm Canada-wide. Our team can help with product selection, service support, and integration planning. We can also support custom fabrication requirements, including panels, enclosures, and integrated solutions for industrial monitoring applications.

Description

Capacitance Technology for Liquid Leak Detection

The ARJAY 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm uses capacitance technology to monitor the air-to-floor space around the sensing puck. In a dry condition, the area has a low capacitance reading. When liquid moves beside or under the puck, the capacitive field increases and triggers the alarm. This approach allows the system to detect liquid accumulation in normally dry areas without relying on moving parts.

Because the system responds to many liquid types, it suits applications involving fuels, chemicals, and general liquid leaks. The system can also detect low dielectric liquids, including diesel, when sensitized for the application. Therefore, it offers a practical solution for facilities that need early leak awareness in containment areas and equipment spaces.

Flexible Sensor Placement

The puck-style sensor gives operators flexibility during installation. The sensing puck can slide under equipment and into spaces where permanent floor-mounted brackets may not work. This design helps teams monitor hard-to-reach locations, including tight corners, sub-floors, equipment pans, and containment floors.

Up to three sensing pucks can connect to one control unit for one common alarm. This allows teams to monitor several key leak points without adding a separate controller for each location. In addition, the 6 m coaxial cable from the puck to the PMC card supports practical sensor placement around the protected area.

Remote Electronics for Safer Installation

The 2852-LPS uses a PMC card mounted in a junction box above the potential spill area. The PMC card converts the sensor signal into a frequency pulse. Then, the signal can travel up to one kilometre to the 2852 controller using two-wire shielded cable.

This remote electronics design helps keep the control unit away from the monitored spill area. It also supports applications where the controller should remain accessible for setup, diagnostics, and alarm review.

Adjustable Alarm Settings

The 2852-LPS provides adjustable sensitivity and alarm delay. These settings help reduce nuisance alarms while maintaining leak detection performance. The relay output can operate in failsafe or non-failsafe mode. Operators can also configure high or low acting alarm behaviour and a programmable time delay from 0 to 600 seconds.

The controller includes a two-line LCD and keypad for setup and diagnostics. It also supports local auto calibration and remote calibration through the network. After installation, a field calibration helps tune the system to the specific sensor and cable conditions.

Outputs for Plant Integration

The ARJAY 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm supports relay output, 4/20 mA alarm output, and Modbus RS-485 communication. The 4/20 mA output provides 4 mA during normal operation and 20 mA during an alarm condition. The RS-485 Modbus interface supports communication with compatible systems.

Alarm Indication and Enclosure Options

The controller can include optional alarm indication accessories, such as a buzzer, pilot light, strobe, beacon, or custom alarms. Facilities can also choose from painted steel, polycarbonate, or 316 stainless steel enclosure options. As a result, the 2852-LPS can suit different installation requirements while keeping the controller accessible for setup, diagnostics, and alarm review.

Applications

The ARJAY 2852-LPS Area Leak Alarm supports facilities that need to detect liquid leaks in normally dry spaces. It works well where leaks may collect under equipment, around tanks, inside containment areas, or in locations that operators cannot easily inspect.

Common applications include:

  • Tank and room leak monitoring
  • Containment floors and pans
  • Electrical and computer vaults
  • Pump stations
  • Valve and pump pans
  • Underground vaults
  • Sub-floors
  • Equipment rooms
  • Containment bunkers
  • Areas where fuels or chemicals may leak
