Description

IR3 and UV/IR Detection Options

The Rosemount 975 Flame Detector Series gives facilities multiple detection technologies for different fire risks. The series includes QuadSense™ triple infrared and ultraviolet infrared detection options. As a result, users can select a model based on their fuel type, hazard profile, and application needs.

The IR3 models support long-distance hydrocarbon flame detection in large industrial areas. Meanwhile, the hydrogen-capable IR3 and UV/IR models support applications involving hydrogen and specialized flame hazards. This flexibility helps facilities build a flame detection strategy around real site conditions.

Long-Distance Flame Detection

The Rosemount 975MR and 975HR models detect hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires at long distances. At the highest sensitivity setting, each model can detect a 1 ft² gasoline pan fire at up to 300 ft.

This extended range helps improve coverage across tank farms, process areas, and outdoor industrial sites. Additionally, long-distance detection can reduce the number of detectors needed in some applications. That can simplify layout planning while still supporting effective fire protection.

Ultra-Fast Response for Critical Fire Events

The Rosemount 975 Flame Detector Series supports fast response when early fire detection is critical. Each model offers response performance suited to specific fire hazards and application conditions.

The Rosemount 975UF and 975UR UV/IR models can detect fire in under 20 milliseconds in certain flash fire conditions. In addition, the 975MR and 975HR IR3 models provide ultra-fast response for long-distance flame detection. This speed helps operators respond sooner when hazardous conditions develop.

Strong False Alarm Immunity

The series detects flame signatures while helping reduce nuisance alarms. This balance is important in facilities with sunlight, hot equipment, welding, or other potential false alarm sources.

The UV/IR models analyze ultraviolet and infrared signals for frequency, intensity, and duration. Then, the detector triggers an alarm when both sensors confirm radiant energy from a flame event. The UV sensor also uses logic that helps reduce false alarms caused by solar radiation.

Built-In Testing and Field Integrity Support

The series includes smart field-of-view integrity testing and infrared built-in test functionality. These features help validate optical integrity and electronic circuitry during operation.

As a result, maintenance teams gain better visibility into detector health. This can support more confident maintenance planning, especially in harsh or remote locations. Built-in testing also helps facilities maintain reliable flame detection between scheduled service intervals.

Designed for Harsh Industrial Environments

The Rosemount 975 Flame Detector Series is built for demanding outdoor and hazardous-area applications. It offers a broad operating temperature range, heated optics, and rugged enclosure options.

The heated optics help reduce condensation and icing on the detector window. Additionally, water and dust protection supports dependable operation in difficult environments. This makes the series well suited for industrial sites exposed to weather, humidity, dust, and vibration.

Flexible Outputs and Communication

The Rosemount 975 Flame Detector Series offers flexible output and communication options for system integration. Available options include relays, analog voltage, 0–20 mA stepped output, HART® protocol, and RS-485 Modbus® communication.

This flexibility helps facilities connect the detector to existing fire and gas systems. It also supports integration with control systems and monitoring infrastructure. Therefore, the Rosemount 975 Flame Detector can fit many industrial safety system designs.

Rosemount™ 975MR Multi-Spectrum Infrared Flame Detector

The Rosemount 975MR Multi-Spectrum Infrared Flame Detector is designed for long-distance detection of hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires in demanding industrial environments. Using QuadSense™ triple infrared technology with four separate IR sensors, the 975MR analyzes multispectral flame signals to deliver reliable detection while maintaining strong immunity to false alarms.

This model is well suited for applications where wide-area coverage and dependable hydrocarbon fire detection are required. At the highest sensitivity setting, the Rosemount 975MR can detect a 1 ft² (0.1 m²) gasoline or N-Heptane pan fire at up to 300 ft. (90 m), helping facilities improve flame detection coverage across large or high-risk areas.

Rosemount™ 975UF Ultra Fast Ultraviolet Infrared Hydrogen Flame Detector

The Rosemount 975UF Ultra Fast Ultraviolet Infrared Hydrogen Flame Detector is designed for applications involving hydrogen, hydroxyl, hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas, metal and inorganic fire hazards. As a UV/IR flame detector, it senses radiant energy in both the ultraviolet and infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, with selectable UV and IR channels that can be used separately or combined.

The 975UF analyzes flame signals for frequency, intensity and duration, with simultaneous UV and IR detection used to trigger an alarm response. This model is especially useful in applications requiring ultra-fast flame detection, with detection capabilities suited to hydrogen and specialty fire risks where fast response and false alarm reduction are critical.

Rosemount™ 975HR Multi-Spectrum Infrared Hydrogen Flame Detector

The Rosemount 975HR Multi-Spectrum Hydrogen Flame Detector is designed for the detection of both hydrocarbon and hydrogen flames. Built on QuadSense™ triple infrared technology, the 975HR provides long-distance flame detection with strong false alarm immunity, making it suitable for industrial sites where hydrogen fire risk must be monitored alongside traditional hydrocarbon hazards.

The 975HR is a strong option for harsh and outdoor environments, with features such as heated optics to help reduce condensation and icing, HART® communication, lower power requirements and a compact, lighter design. At the highest sensitivity setting, it can detect hydrocarbon-based fires at up to 300 ft. (90 m) and hydrogen fires at up to 164 ft. (50 m), depending on the fire type and application conditions.

Rosemount™ 975UR Ultraviolet Infrared Flame Detector

The Rosemount 975UR Ultraviolet Infrared Flame Detector is designed for fast detection of hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires. Using UV/IR technology, the detector senses radiant energy in both the ultraviolet and infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, then analyzes the signals for frequency, intensity and duration before triggering an alarm.

The 975UR is suited for applications where fast UV/IR flame detection is required, particularly in industrial environments where hydrocarbon fire risks are present. Its UV sensor includes logic designed to help reduce false alarms caused by solar radiation, supporting dependable flame detection performance in challenging operating conditions.
