PRATT – HP Series High Performance Double Offset Butterfly Valve
The PRATT HP Series High Performance Double Offset Butterfly Valve supports reliable flow control in demanding industrial fluid systems. This high performance butterfly valve uses a double offset disc and shaft design to reduce seat wear, lower torque, and support longer cycle life.
The HP Series is available in sizes from 2” through 72”, with Westech stocking sizes from 2” through 36”. It comes in wafer, lug, double flange, and butt-weld styles, giving facilities flexibility for new builds, upgrades, and replacement projects. Pressure class options include Class 150, Class 300, and Class 600, depending on valve size and application requirements.
PRATT offers multiple material and seat options to suit a wide range of service conditions. Body options include WCB A-216 carbon steel and CF8M A351 stainless steel. Seat options include PTFE, RTFE, 316 stainless steel, Inconel, fire-safe, and MTFE. In addition, the HP Series offers worm gear, lever, pneumatic, and electric actuation options.
Westech Industrial supplies the PRATT HP Series high performance butterfly valve Canada-wide. Our team can help with valve selection, sizing, actuation requirements, service support, and custom fabrication needs for larger system packages.

Description
Double Offset Butterfly Valve Design for Reduced Seat Wear
The PRATT HP Series uses a double offset butterfly valve design to improve sealing performance and reduce wear. The offset disc and shaft help the disc move away from the seat within the first few degrees of opening. As a result, the valve reduces rubbing between the disc and seat. This helps lower operating torque and supports longer service life in demanding fluid systems.
The tapered disc edge also helps the valve release quickly from the seat. This design improves cycle life and helps maintain consistent operation over time.
Strong Shaft Design for Demanding Service
The HP Series includes a hardened 17-4 PH stainless steel shaft as standard. This one-piece shaft design provides strength and stability for high-torque applications. In addition, the blowout proof shaft retention system meets API requirements. This feature helps keep the shaft safely retained during operation.
Seat Options for Different Process Conditions
PRATT offers several seat options for the HP Series. Available materials include PTFE, RTFE, 316 stainless steel, Inconel, fire-safe, and MTFE. The seat design allows pressure to assist the seal. Therefore, the valve can provide positive sealing under both low and high pressures.
This double offset butterfly valve can also support soft seated, metal seated, and fire-safe requirements. That flexibility helps facilities match the valve to the service conditions.
Low Profile Design for Actuation
The below bonnet gland packing helps reduce the need for mounting kits. This keeps the valve package lower in height. It also helps simplify automated valve assemblies where space matters. The bonnet allows direct mounting for different actuation options, including worm gear, lever, pneumatic, and electric.
Multiple Body Styles for Installation Flexibility
The HP Series comes in wafer, lug, double flange, and butt-weld styles. This gives engineers and maintenance teams more flexibility during new installations, upgrades, or replacements. Lug-style valves can also support vacuum rated dead-end and double dead-end service.
Tested Performance and High Flow Capacity
PRATT designed the HP Series to support strong flow capacity. The valve provides high Cv values, which help reduce flow resistance. Lower flow resistance can also help reduce operating costs over the life of the valve. Each valve receives API 598 testing, with documentation available when required.
Applications
The PRATT HP Series high performance butterfly valve suits industrial fluid systems that need dependable shutoff, high flow capacity, and flexible installation options. Its material, seat, body style, and actuation choices make it suitable for a broad range of piping requirements.
Common applications include:
- Industrial fluid systems requiring high performance butterfly valve operation
- ANSI Class 150, 300, or 600 piping systems
- Wafer, lug, double flange, or butt-weld valve installations
- Automated valve packages using pneumatic or electric actuation
- Applications requiring reduced torque and longer cycle life
- Soft seated, metal seated, or fire-safe valve requirements
- Lug-style dead-end or double dead-end service
- Systems where piping insulation clearance matters
- Projects that require custom testing, materials, or valve options
