Description
Compact Design with High Torque Output
The PRATT EQ Series Electric Actuator delivers high torque in a compact, lightweight design. This helps facilities automate valves without adding unnecessary space or weight. The actuator range covers multiple torque requirements, from smaller 885 in/lbs models to larger 79,656 in/lbs units. As a result, operators can match the actuator to the valve and application more precisely.
Built for Severe Industrial Environments
The EQ electric actuator uses a hard anodized aluminum housing inside and outside. It also includes an external epoxy powder coating for added protection. Together, these features help support operation in demanding industrial settings. The standard enclosure offers IP67 protection with NEMA 4, 4X, and 6 ratings. For applications that need added water protection, an optional IP68 watertight version is available.
Self-Locking Double Worm Gear Design
The PRATT EQ actuator uses precisely machined double worm gearing. This gearing provides high output torque, low noise, and minimum backlash. It also delivers self-locking performance, so the actuator holds valve position against reverse torque. Because of this design, the actuator does not require a brake.
Flexible Mounting and Easier Installation
The EQ Series includes a dual mounting base with ISO 5211 and Imperial mounting standards. In addition, the removable drive bushing allows easier machining and mounting. This gives maintenance and project teams more flexibility when fitting the actuator to different valve assemblies.
Manual Override for Emergency Operation
The actuator includes an auto-declutching manual override handwheel. The auto/manual lever allows emergency manual operation when needed. The drive force automatically returns when the motor starts, unless the lever has been padlocked to prevent this action.
Position Indication and Control Options
A large window and continuous mechanical position indicator help operators confirm valve position from a distance. The EQ Series also supports local position control options for commissioning and field operation. Remote monitoring and control options include potentiometer kits, current transmitters, and remote position controllers.
Protection Against Overload and Overtravel
Mechanical torque sensing helps protect the actuator during overload conditions. The torque switches monitor open and close operation. External mechanical stops also help prevent overtravel if a limit switch fails. Therefore, the EQ electric actuator supports safer operation in automated valve applications.
Designed for Practical Maintenance
Captive cover bolts help prevent lost hardware during installation or maintenance. Stainless steel external bolts provide added resistance against rust. Spring-loaded push-type terminals support secure wiring connections, especially in applications with vibration. An anti-condensation space heater also helps protect internal components.
