PRATT – BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves
PRATT BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves provide dependable flow control for demanding industrial fluid systems. Available in 2″ through 24″ sizes, these valves support a wide range of process applications where compact design, strong sealing, and efficient flow matter.
The BF Series uses a ductile iron body, resilient seat options, and a two-piece shaft design. Together, these features help improve strength while supporting high Cv flow performance. The valve also uses a 3-point tongue and groove seat design. This helps keep the seat secure during dead-end pressure and full vacuum service.
PRATT BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves support bidirectional, end-of-line, bubble-tight service to rated pressure. In addition, the top flange follows ISO 5211 and Kv industrial standards. This supports easier automation by allowing the BF Series to work with many common actuators.
Westech Industrial supplies PRATT BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves Canada wide. Our team can help with product selection, actuation requirements, service support, and custom fabrication. We can also support valve assemblies, integration needs, and related process equipment requirements.

Description
Strong Wafer and Lug Valve Construction
PRATT BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves use a one-piece ductile iron body for strength and reliability. The body construction supports industrial service where dependable shutoff and stable operation matter. For flexibility, the BF Series offers wafer and lug body styles. Wafer valves suit compact installations, while lug valves support applications that need tapped lug connections.
The valve supports sizes from 2″ through 24″. It also handles 250 psi in 2″ through 12″ sizes and 150 psi in 14″ through 24″ sizes. Therefore, users can select one valve family across several line sizes.
3-Point Tongue and Groove Seat Design
The BF Series seat design uses three tongue and groove connection points. Two sit on the side walls, and one sits in the centre bore. This design helps prevent seat movement in both radial and axial directions. As a result, the seat remains secure during high dead-end pressure and full vacuum service.
The centre tongue also helps reduce operating torque. It allows rubber material to move into the centre body groove while the valve cycles. This design helps the valve operate smoothly and supports long-term performance.
High Cv Flow Performance
The BF Series uses a thin profile, high tensile strength disc. This disc design helps maximize Cv values and reduce flow resistance. Lower flow resistance can help reduce system operating costs over the life of the valve.
In addition, PRATT uses two internally driven shafts. This creates a strong drive connection while allowing a thin centre disc profile. As a result, the valve combines strength with efficient flow characteristics.
Reliable Shaft Sealing and Stem Support
PRATT BF Series Wafer/Lug Butterfly Valves include secondary shaft seals to help prevent leakage from the shaft. The upper shaft seal uses a self-adjusting V-type seal for pressure or vacuum service. The bottom end cap also includes a captive O-ring to help seal against external leakage.
A blowout proof stem meets API 609 requirements. The valve also uses full length Nylatron® bushings. These bushings reduce stem journal friction, lower torque, and help protect against shaft side loading.
Automation-Ready Mounting
The top flange conforms to ISO 5211 and Kv industrial standards. This provides a universal mounting pad for automation requirements. Therefore, the BF Series can support manual operation or automated valve packages.
Actuation options include lever, worm gear, pneumatic, and electric operation. Westech Industrial can help match the correct valve and actuation package for your process.
