PFS Metal Fabricated/Plastic Insert Venturi Meter (HVT-FI, HVT-PI)

The PFS Metal Fabricated/Plastic Insert Venturi Meter, including HVT-FI and HVT-PI models, provides reliable flow measurement for clean liquids, gases, steam, refrigerated gases, and digester gas applications. This Insert Venturi Meter installs between flanges, often using existing flange connections. As a result, it can support retrofits, upgrades, and new flow measurement projects.

PFS builds the HVT-FI metallic fabricated series for demanding process conditions. The HVT-PI fiberglass/plastic insert series supports applications that benefit from fiberglass construction. Both styles can match the pressure and temperature limits of the mating flanges. They also offer long service life, low head loss, and repeatable measurement with no moving parts.

Westech Industrial offers the PFS HVT-FI and HVT-PI Insert Venturi Meter Canada-wide. Our team can support product selection, sizing, service requirements, and complete project coordination. In addition, Westech can assist with custom fabrication, measurement assemblies, panels, and related instrumentation packages to help simplify installation and integration.

Description

Insert Design for Flanged Installations

The PFS HVT-FI and HVT-PI Insert Venturi Meter installs between flanges, which helps reduce piping modifications. This design works well for many retrofit projects because the meter can use existing flange locations. It also supports new builds where compact installation matters. For larger line sizes, static inlet taps and grout-in designs can support more complex flow measurement needs.

Long Service Life with No Moving Parts

This Insert Venturi Meter has no moving parts, so it reduces wear points in the flow path. That design helps extend product life and reduce maintenance needs. It also improves reliability in clean liquid, gas, and digester gas service. Since the meter uses a proven venturi profile, it can provide stable performance over long operating periods.

Strong Performance with Low Head Loss

The HVT-FI and HVT-PI designs provide useful flow measurement while keeping head loss low. The head loss range runs from 3.50 to 10.0 percent of differential. This matters in systems where pressure loss affects performance, energy use, or process efficiency. Additionally, the meter supports high-velocity flow measurement, which makes it suitable for many industrial and municipal applications.

Flexible Materials and Construction Options

PFS offers metallic fabricated and fiberglass/plastic insert configurations. Common metallic materials include 304–316 stainless steel and carbon steel. The fiberglass/plastic insert version can use fiberglass with stainless steel, carbon steel, or fiberglass throat and holding plate materials. Other available materials include aluminum, Monel, Inconel, Tantalum, Zirconium, Duplex stainless steel, Hastelloy B and C, Titanium, and 321 stainless steel.

Accurate and Repeatable Measurement

The PFS HVT-FI and HVT-PI Insert Venturi Meter offers repeatability of ±0.1%. It can also provide basic accuracy of ±0.25% when calibrated. Uncalibrated accuracy is ±0.50% at 2 Sigma. For basic accuracy, the minimum pipe Reynolds number must exceed 75,000. Therefore, proper sizing remains important during product selection.

Installation Flexibility

The meter mounts in any position, which helps with varied piping layouts. It also has no downstream installation effect and minimal upstream effect. However, upstream geometry still needs proper review. For added support, upstream or upstream and downstream spools can be provided as an assembly. This helps ensure the upstream geometry meets dimensional and finish requirements.

Applications

The PFS HVT-FI and HVT-PI Insert Venturi Meter supports a wide range of municipal and industrial flow measurement applications. It works best in clean liquid, gas, and digester gas services where reliable differential pressure flow measurement matters.

  • Potable water systems
  • Water treatment plants
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Air flow for aeration basins
  • Sparge air flow in water treatment applications
  • Clean liquid flow measurement
  • Air and gas flow measurement
  • Steam flow in suitable metallic configurations
  • Refrigerated gas applications
  • Digester gas applications
  • Large line size flow measurement
  • Retrofit flow measurement projects using existing flanges
