PFS F Series Flow Monitor

The PFS F Series Flow Monitor provides clear, configurable indication of flow rate, total and accumulated total. The series includes models for straightforward local indication and more advanced flow measurement requirements. Available functions include scaled pulse outputs, analog outputs, flow linearization, alarms, data logging and Modbus communication.

A large, high-intensity LCD helps operators read process values in indoor and outdoor environments. The display can show flow rate, total, accumulated total and the selected engineering units. Additional status, trend and alarm information varies by model. Depending on the selected F Series model, available inputs include passive or active pulse, Namur, coil and isolated active pulse signals.

Selected PFS F Series models support battery operation or external power, depending on the model and ordered power-supply configuration. Its ultra-low power design makes it suitable for remote locations where continuous electrical power may not be available. Several mounting arrangements and enclosure materials support installation in industrial environments. Intrinsically safe and non-incendive configurations are also available for qualifying hazardous-area applications.

Westech Industrial supplies PFS F Series flow monitors across Canada. Our team can help select the appropriate model, input type, output functions, enclosure and mounting arrangement. Westech also provides technical service and Custom Fabrication capabilities. These services can support instrument panels, control systems, analyzer shelters and packaged flow measurement assemblies.

Description

Clear Flow Rate and Totalizing Display

The F Series features a large LCD for displaying flow rate, total, engineering units, status information, and model-dependent alarm messages. Standard displays include seven 17 mm digits and eleven 8 mm digits. Symbols provide additional operating information.

Operators can view flow rate, resettable total and accumulated total. Several models also display trend indicators, alarm messages and status information. The monitor stores total and accumulated-total values in non-volatile memory every minute. Therefore, recorded values remain protected during a power interruption.

Depending on the model, operators can select which value appears in the larger display area. This flexibility helps prioritize the most important measurement for each application.

Configurable Models for Different Flow Applications

The PFS F Series includes several configurations with different measurement and output capabilities.

The F012-P provides flow rate indication and totalizing with a streamlined setup process. The F014-P adds a scaled pulse output based on accumulated total. The F110-P adds analog and pulse outputs for transmitting flow rate and total information.

For applications requiring two flow inputs, the F116-P calculates differential flow or combines two separate flow measurements. The F118-P adds flow curve linearization, adjustable high and low alarms, analog output and configurable switch outputs.

The F103 WP provides weatherproof flow totalizing or flow logging. It includes linearization, analog output, pulse retransmission and scaled pulse output. Available options include data logging, Modbus communication, external reset and backlighting.

Flexible Flowmeter Signal Compatibility

Model selection determines the available input signals. F Series configurations can accept passive or active pulse, Namur and sine-wave coil signals. The F103 WP accepts pulse, isolated active pulse and coil signals.

This broad compatibility allows the monitor to work with many turbine meters and other pulse-producing flowmeters. Programmable K-factors, engineering units and signal settings allow technicians to match the monitor to the connected meter.

Analog, Pulse, Alarm and Communication Options

Available outputs vary by model. Options include scaled pulse output, pulse retransmission and linear analog output. Analog configurations can provide a 4–20 mA, 0–20 mA or 0–10 V signal, depending on the model and selected options.

Certain models also provide configurable switch outputs for high-flow alarms, low-flow alarms or pulse transmission. Modbus communication can support integration with supervisory control and data acquisition systems.

The F116-P provides pulse and analog outputs based on the calculated differential or summed flow. Meanwhile, the F118-P offers alarm and output functions for monitoring a single linearized flow measurement.

Long-Life Battery Operation

Ultra-low power consumption supports long-term battery-powered operation. Battery life depends on the selected model, settings, input sensor, display refresh rate and enabled outputs.

Power-management settings allow technicians to adjust display refresh behaviour and reduce energy consumption. Externally powered configurations are also available when the application requires sensor power, continuous backlighting or powered outputs.

A low-battery indicator alerts operators when replacement becomes necessary. Furthermore, the monitor retains programmed settings in non-volatile memory.

Straightforward Field Configuration

Technicians configure the F Series through three front-panel keys. Clearly identified menus provide access to K-factors, measurement units, decimals, signal selection and power-management settings.

Many configurations also support password protection. This feature helps prevent unauthorized changes to important operating parameters. The electronic setup eliminates the need for mechanical DIP switches.

Industrial Enclosures and Mounting Options

Available enclosure materials include die-cast aluminum, reinforced plastic and, on selected models, stainless steel. UV-resistant materials help protect the display, keypad and enclosure during outdoor service.

Field, wall and panel mounting configurations are available. Optional mounting arrangements can also support horizontal or vertical pipe installation. Enclosure classifications vary by model and configuration. Available ratings include NEMA 4, NEMA 4X, IP65, IP67 and Type 4(X).

Hazardous-Area Configurations

Selected F Series flow monitors support intrinsically safe installations. Other configurations provide non-incendive certification for Class I, Division 2 locations.

For example, the F103 WP supports Class I, Division 2, Groups A–D, T5 applications in Canada and the United States. The required certification, enclosure and electrical configuration should always match the installation area.
