The PFS E Series Explosion-Proof Pulse Input Flow Rate Totalizer provides local flow indication in hazardous areas. It connects with turbine meters and other flowmeters that generate pulse or frequency signals.
The explosion-proof flow totalizer displays flow rate, resettable total, and accumulated total. Selected models also provide flowmeter linearization, flow alarms, historical totals, or compensated gas volume calculations.
Operators can configure the monitor through the glass using three optical keys. Model-dependent PC, USB, Modbus, or HART options also support configuration and system integration. Configurable pulse and 4-20 mA outputs can transmit flow data to other control equipment.
The E Series features a rugged aluminum or stainless steel 316L enclosure. It also supports battery, external DC, and loop-powered configurations. These options allow engineers to match the monitor to the flowmeter, installation, and available power.
Westech Industrial supplies the PFS E Series throughout Canada. Our team can help select the appropriate model, enclosure, input, output, and power configuration. Westech can also integrate the monitor into custom-fabricated panels, skids, shelters, and complete instrumentation systems.

Description
Explosion Proof Construction for Hazardous Areas
The PFS E Series explosion proof pulse input flow rate totalizer provides rate and total indication where hazardous-area protection remains essential. Its enclosure supports certified gas and dust applications under ATEX, IECEx, FM, and CSA classifications.
Available protection ratings include IP66 or IP67, depending on the model. North American configurations also carry Type 4X, Type 7, and Type 9 ratings. Therefore, the enclosure protects the electronics against demanding industrial and environmental conditions.
Customers can select a coated die-cast aluminum enclosure for general industrial service. A stainless steel 316L enclosure provides another option for offshore and corrosive environments.
Broad Pulse Input Compatibility
The explosion proof flow totalizer accepts many pulse and frequency signals. Compatible inputs include passive and active pulse, NAMUR, NPN, PNP, reed switch, and coil signals.
The selectable coil input supports standard sensitivity levels. Optional higher-sensitivity inputs accommodate lower-level coil signals. In addition, the input includes configurable filtering for improved signal stability.
The monitor accepts frequencies up to 10 kHz. However, the maximum frequency depends on the input signal and selected low-pass filter. This flexibility allows the E Series to work with turbine meters and many other frequency-generating devices.
Clear Flow Rate and Total Display
A high-intensity, UV-resistant LCD provides clear local process indication. The display includes seven 12 mm digits and eleven 7 mm digits. Symbols and engineering units provide additional operating information.
Operators can view flow rate, resettable total, and non-resettable accumulated total. The display also includes flow trend arrows and status messages. A 20-segment speedometer shows the current flow rate from zero to 100 percent.
The display updates according to the selected refresh rate. After a keypress, it refreshes eight times per second for 30 seconds before returning to the configured setting.
The bright backlight improves viewing in sunlight and low-light conditions. External power allows adjustable and continuous backlighting. With battery power, a keypad touch activates the backlight briefly to conserve battery life.
Through-the-Glass Configuration
Three optical keys let operators access settings without removing the explosion-proof cover. This design simplifies routine operation and helps preserve enclosure integrity.
Operators can program the K-factor, engineering units, decimal positions, input selection, display function, and output scaling. Password protection can restrict access to configuration settings.
The monitor stores settings in EEPROM memory. As a result, a power interruption or depleted battery does not erase the configuration. Running totals receive regular backup for dependable data retention.
Depending on the selected model and communication option, technicians can also configure the unit through PC software, USB, Modbus, or HART communication.
Model-Specific Measurement Functions
The E110-P provides straightforward flow rate, total, and accumulated total indication. It suits applications that need dependable pulse input monitoring without flow curve correction.
The E112-P adds flowmeter linearization. This function corrects the flowmeter curve before displaying or transmitting linearized flow rate and total values.
The E018-P combines linearization with configurable flow alarms and model-dependent alarm or pulse outputs. It also offers HART communication for configuration and process monitoring.
The E126-P-EG calculates compensated gas volume or mass flow. It accepts pressure and temperature inputs for corrected gas measurement. It can also display current, previous, and historical daily totals.
Flexible Outputs, Communications, and Power
Configurable pulse outputs transmit a scaled quantity based on totalized flow. Selected models can also retransmit the incoming frequency as a square-wave output. Maximum scaled pulse frequency reaches 500 Hz on supported outputs.
A galvanically isolated 4-20 mA output transmits the measured flow rate. Engineers can scale this output to the required process range.
Communication options vary by model. The E110-P, E112-P, and E126-P-EG support model-dependent Modbus RS232, RS485, and USB options. The E018-P offers HART communication.
Power choices include a long-life lithium battery, external 9-27 VDC power, and loop-powered configurations. Battery life can reach approximately three years. However, settings, outputs, backlight use, and sensor requirements affect service life.
