Jacoby-Tarbox Phaeton® LED process lighting provides bright, cool illumination for tanks, vessels, reactors, and sight flow indicators. It also supports viewing applications on compatible OEM process equipment.
The Phaeton XTL uses ultra-high-intensity LED technology to illuminate large process windows. It can improve visibility inside vessels containing dark liquids. Its ring-shaped design places the light directly against the window. Therefore, operators can view the process through the centre opening.
The compact Phaeton SL illuminates smaller sight flow indicators and process windows. Together, these options support applications ranging from 1/4-inch sight flow indicators to large tank windows.
Phaeton LED process lighting installs quickly with supplied mounting hardware. The mounting design does not require window disassembly or changes to process connections. It can also retrofit compatible windows from different manufacturers.

Description
Ultra-High-Intensity Phaeton LED Process Lighting
Phaeton LED process lighting directs bright light through the process window. The XTL produces 33 times the brightness of the first-generation product.
It also uses approximately one-twentieth the power of a 100-watt bulb. Therefore, it provides strong illumination without the heat associated with traditional bulbs.
The light mounts directly against the window. This position minimizes reflected light and directs more illumination into the equipment. As a result, operators gain a clearer view of vessels, reactors, and flowing process media.
The Phaeton XTL can also improve visibility when dark liquids make visual monitoring difficult.
View-Through XTL Ring Design
The Phaeton XTL places LEDs around a large centre opening. Operators look through this opening while the surrounding LED ring illuminates the process.
This view-through arrangement allows one window to support both illumination and viewing. Consequently, the installation does not require a second window for a separate light source.
The XTL comes in 4-inch and 6-inch sizes. These sizes equal approximately 100 mm and 150 mm.
Applications requiring greater brightness can place a 4-inch XTL inside a 6-inch XTL. This nested arrangement doubles the available illumination.
Compact Lighting for Sight Flow Indicators
The Phaeton SL uses a compact 2-inch light assembly. It fits sight flow indicators and other units from 1/4 inch through 3 inches.
Its focused design directs light into smaller viewing areas. Therefore, the SL suits process lines and compact sight window arrangements.
The supplied mounting hardware secures the light directly to the viewing equipment. This design keeps installation simple and accessible.
Cool, Continuous LED Operation
Phaeton LED process lighting provides an estimated 100,000 hours of continuous service. This rating equals more than ten years under normal operating conditions.
The lights can run continuously without switches or timers. However, users may add operating controls when the application requires them.
Low power consumption keeps the light cool enough to touch during operation. The cooler light also helps prevent process material from baking onto the window. In addition, it reduces burn risks associated with hot lamp surfaces.
Fast Retrofit Phaeton LED Process Lighting
Phaeton lighting can install or retrofit in two minutes or less on many compatible windows. The mounting system clips or fastens directly onto the existing assembly.
Installers do not need to disassemble the window or open the process. This approach reduces installation work and avoids unnecessary changes to pressure-containing equipment.

Hazardous-Location Configurations
Phaeton lighting supports hazardous industrial environments through model-specific approvals. The systems combine an approved power-supply enclosure with intrinsically safe light output.
XTL configurations include Class I, Division 1 approvals for Groups B, C, and D. They also include Class II, Division 1 approvals for Groups E, F, and G.
SL/HL configurations include US and Canadian approvals. Selected configurations also carry ATEX and IECEx approvals.
Customers should always match the unit nameplate to the installation environment. Westech can help review the required classification and temperature rating.
Durable Housing and Material Options
The XTL features a NEMA 4X anodized aluminum housing. A 316 stainless steel option supports applications requiring an alternative construction material.
SL/HL LED assemblies also come in aluminum and 316 stainless steel versions.
Separate power supplies support the selected light assembly. Extension cables allow remote power-supply mounting when the approved configuration permits it. Installers should use the supplied cables and avoid cutting or splicing them.
Simple Cleaning and Maintenance
Phaeton lighting requires little routine maintenance. Operators should keep the front window clean using a suitable commercial glass cleaner.
They should avoid abrasives, wire brushes, and metal scrapers. These tools could scratch the light window.
Users can unclip the light for cleaning or sight window inspection. They do not need to disconnect the light assembly during this work. However, they must not disconnect the DC power cord while the power supply remains energized.
