Jacoby-Tarbox Hy-Sight™ Hygienic Sight Flow Indicator (Clark Reliance)
The Jacoby-Tarbox® Hy-Sight™ hygienic sight flow indicator provides a clear view of process flow in high-purity applications. Its inline tubular design creates an uninterrupted viewing window for monitoring liquids within sanitary process lines.
The Hy-Sight flow indicator combines precision-bore Type 1 borosilicate glass with a smooth, crevice-free internal flow path. Flame-polished glass ends improve the surface finish and support dependable sealing. Meanwhile, the controlled glass-to-metal transition helps reduce product hold-up and improve process cleanability.
A positive stop design controls O-ring compression and helps prevent the seal from extending into the tube bore. The design also keeps threads away from the process area. Therefore, operators gain reliable flow visibility without compromising hygienic process requirements.
Standard Hy-Sight models use a four-window body for process viewing from multiple positions. The Hy-Sight Full View model provides 360-degree visibility and supports customizable overall lengths. Both configurations use hygienic clamp connections for integration into sanitary process systems.
Jacoby-Tarbox supplies 316L stainless steel as the standard wetted metal. Hastelloy® C22, Hastelloy® C276 and AL6XN® options support more demanding applications. Available seal materials include EPDM, FKM, platinum-cured silicone, FFKM and FEP-encapsulated silicone.
Westech Industrial supplies Jacoby-Tarbox Hy-Sight flow indicators across Canada. Our team can review process conditions, materials, connections and dimensional requirements. Westech also provides technical service support and custom fabrication for surrounding sanitary process assemblies.

Description
Large Four-Window Viewing Area
The standard Hy-Sight flow indicator uses a four-window body to provide a broad view of the process. Its slim, low-profile construction helps operators monitor flow without adding an oversized assembly to the line.
The clear window supports visual confirmation of product movement, colour and general process conditions. Furthermore, operators can view the process from different positions around the unit. This flexibility helps when surrounding equipment limits access to one side of the process line.
For applications that require complete visibility, the Hy-Sight Full View model provides a 360-degree viewing area. Customers can also specify customized overall lengths for Full View configurations.
Controlled Glass-to-Metal Transition
The Hy-Sight combines precision-bore Type 1 borosilicate glass with tightly controlled internal dimensions. Flame-polished glass ends improve the sealing surface and help create a smooth transition into the metal connections.
A tightly toleranced, EHEDG-inspired O-ring capture controls the position of each seal. This design limits seal intrusion into the process flow path. As a result, the internal transition reduces areas where product could collect.
The smooth, crevice-free flow path supports hygienic processing requirements associated with ASME BPE and 3-A standards.
Positive Stop Sealing Design
Jacoby-Tarbox uses a positive stop design to control compression of the sealing O-rings. Metal-to-metal contact establishes the final assembled position. Therefore, technicians do not need to estimate the required compression during assembly.
The positive stop also helps prevent excessive O-ring compression into the tube bore. In addition, the design keeps exposed threads outside the process area. This arrangement supports process cleanliness and reduces potential debris traps.
Jacoby-Tarbox marks individual components to support full material traceability.
Hygienic Surface Finish and Connections
Hy-Sight models use hygienic clamp connections manufactured according to ASME BPE dimensions. Standard units cover common imperial tube sizes for sanitary process systems.
The wetted metal surfaces receive an ASME BPE SF4 finish. This finish includes a 15 Ra μin, or 0.38 μm, mechanically polished and electropolished surface.
The resulting internal finish supports high-purity processing and routine cleaning procedures. It also complements the smooth glass surface and controlled seal transition.
CIP and SIP Process Performance
The hygienic internal geometry reduces product hold-up at the transition point. Therefore, less process material can remain around the glass and seal interfaces.
This cleanable design can help shorten cleaning cycles and reduce product loss. It also supports demanding clean-in-place and steam-in-place process requirements.
Operators can commission the unit during a CIP cycle. This approach allows personnel to check the installation for leaks before introducing process media.
Material and Seal Selection
Jacoby-Tarbox supplies 316L stainless steel as the standard head and body material. Customers can also select Hastelloy C22, Hastelloy C276 or AL6XN for compatible applications.
The standard window uses Type 1 borosilicate glass. Acrylic and special window materials are also available for suitable operating conditions.
Seal choices include EPDM, FKM, platinum-cured silicone, perfluoroelastomer and FEP-encapsulated silicone. FDA, USP Class VI and ADI-compliant seal and locating O-ring options support hygienic process requirements.
Size-Dependent Pressure and Temperature Ratings
The Hy-Sight flow indicator handles full vacuum service and maximum pressures up to 300 psig. However, the allowable pressure decreases as the tube size increases.
Temperature capability depends on the selected O-ring material. EPDM supports temperatures up to 302°F or 150°C. Silicone and FKM support temperatures up to 392°F or 200°C. FEP-encapsulated silicone supports temperatures up to 450°F or 232°C.
Westech can review the complete combination of size, pressure, temperature, window material and seal material before selection.
Serviceable Construction
The standard Hy-Sight uses ACME threads to connect the heads and body. These no-gall threads help reduce cross-threading and simplify maintenance.
The assembly includes two sealing O-rings and two centralizing O-rings. The centralizing O-rings keep the glass positioned within the connections. Meanwhile, the sealing O-rings maintain process containment.
Technicians can inspect the glass, O-rings, connections and metal body during scheduled maintenance. The O-ring replacement interval should align with the facility’s established gasket replacement schedule.
