Yarway TSL/TSM Liquid Level Gauges
Yarway TSL/TSM liquid level gauges give operators direct visual confirmation of steam-water levels. The armored, transparent flat-glass design suits boiler drums, feedwater heaters, and other vessel level applications. These gauges perform especially well on IP and LP combined-cycle HRSGs.
The TSL Series suits lower-pressure applications, while the TSM Series serves medium-pressure steam applications and offers higher maximum pressure and temperature ratings, depending on the selected configuration. Both series protect the glass with rigid covers and mica shields. Additionally, live-loaded bolting helps maintain sealing force during repeated thermal cycles.
Nipple-connected and flange-connected configurations support different piping and installation requirements. Operators can also select multi-section arrangements when the application requires a longer viewing range. Gaugecocks and LED illuminators can complete the level indication assembly.
Westech Industrial supplies Yarway TSL/TSM level gauges throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Our team can assist with product selection, application review, technical support, and service coordination.
For larger project requirements, Westech Custom Fabrication can incorporate level indication into packaged systems, skids, and winterized assemblies. This support helps align the gauge configuration with site conditions and broader project requirements.

Description
Direct Steam-Water Level Visibility
Yarway TSL/TSM level gauges use transparent flat glass to provide direct observation of the process level. Operators can view boiler water or condensate through openings machined into the pressure-retaining chamber.
This direct-reading design provides local indication without relying on an electronic display. Therefore, personnel can quickly confirm liquid level during routine operation, inspection, or troubleshooting.
The gauges use transparent glass on both sides of the chamber. Optional LED illuminators can mount on TSL and TSM gauges to improve liquid level visibility when ambient light is insufficient.
Strong Glass Protection
Tempered borosilicate glass provides strength and resistance to thermal shock. Rigid gauge covers enclose the glass assembly and protect it from external impacts.
The covers also provide flat surfaces that distribute compression across the glass, cushions, shields, and gaskets. Meanwhile, cushions create a protective buffer between each glass section and its cover.
Mica shields separate the glass from direct steam exposure. Consequently, the shields help reduce erosion and extend glass service life in steam-water applications.
Live-Loaded Bolting for Thermal Cycling
Yarway TSL/TSM liquid level gauges use live-loaded cover bolting to withstand cyclical service.
Belleville washers maintain axial bolt loading as gauge components expand and contract. Therefore, the assembly maintains compression on the sealing components without placing excessive stress on the bolting.
The TSL design uses one Belleville washer per nut. In comparison, the TSM design uses three washers per nut. This arrangement supports the higher-pressure requirements of the TSM Series.
Thermal Expansion Management
The available connection arrangements manage thermally induced linear expansion in different ways.
Nipple-connected models use stuffing box connections that accommodate expansion and contraction. These configurations work with low-maintenance stuffing box gauge valves.
Flange-connected TSL-F and TSM-F models use an expansion loop within the piping arrangement. The loop helps reduce mechanical loads caused by changing process temperatures.
Proper expansion management helps protect the gauge, glass, connections, and surrounding piping.
Service-Friendly Through-Bolt Construction
A through-bolt design simplifies access to the gauge components during planned servicing. Technicians can remove the covers and reach the glass, mica shields, gaskets, and cushions.
The design uses studs, nuts, and Belleville washers to compress the covers against the chamber. A specified tightening sequence distributes loading evenly across each gauge section.
Replacement procedures require new glass, shields, gaskets, and cushions. Used sealing and glass components should not return to service after disassembly.
Flexible Visibility and Assembly Lengths
TSL gauges provide standard visibility lengths from 9 to 58½ inches. TSM gauges provide standard visibility lengths from 9 to 35½ inches.
Multi-section arrangements increase the visible range while maintaining overlap between adjoining sections. Furthermore, staggered single-section gauges can create longer assemblies on a common bridle.
Overall visibility lengths up to 139 inches remain possible. However, the final configuration depends on the model, connection style, and project requirements.
Optional Gaugecocks and Illumination
Yarway TSL/TSM level gauges can form part of a complete assembly with isolating gaugecocks and illumination.
Model 780 gaugecocks isolate the level gauge from the pressure vessel during draining or servicing. Their offset pattern also supports internal gauge cleaning with limited disassembly.
Optional LED illuminators distribute light across the visible gauge length when ambient lighting remains insufficient. Continuous illuminators come in lengths up to 74 inches. Multiple sections can support longer visible assemblies.
Indoor and Outdoor Installation
The Yarway TSL and TSM Series support both indoor and outdoor installations. However, the selected configuration must match the process conditions, surrounding environment, and piping arrangement.
Long or heavy gauges may also require independent support. Proper support reduces loads on the gaugecocks, vessel connections, and gauge chamber.
Boiler Code Conformance
Series TSL and TSM meet ASME Section I requirements for applicable boiler installations. PED 2014/68/EU conformance also remains available for qualifying configurations.
The final pressure and temperature limits depend on the selected model, materials, and connection arrangement.
