Yarway Steel Water Gauge Isolation Valve Sets

Yarway steel water gauge isolation valve sets provide controlled isolation for boiler water gauges and water column installations. The product family includes SG800 lever-operated valves and L200 or SG700 chain-wheel models. The family offers 16 model configurations for different installation requirements.

SG800 valves serve steam applications up to 1,500 psi at 600°F. L200 and SG700 models extend service to 3,000 psi at 700°F. However, the maximum rating depends on the selected model.

Available configurations support several vessel connections, gauge connections, ball-check arrangements, unions and equalizer tube options. Forged steel construction, stainless steel stems and Grafoil packing support demanding steam service. Therefore, users can match the valve set to the required pressure, connections and operating method.

Westech Industrial supplies Yarway water gauge valves across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Our team supports model selection, application review, technical coordination and ongoing service requirements. Westech Custom Fabrication can also integrate related instrumentation into packaged systems, skids, panels, shelters and winterized assemblies.

Description

Forged Steel Construction for Steam Service

Yarway water gauge valves use forged steel bodies that meet ASTM SA-105. Type 303 stainless steel stems support the operating mechanism. These materials suit the high-pressure and high-temperature steam duties listed for each series.

The steel construction also provides a consistent platform across several connection configurations. This model range allows users to select the required arrangement without changing the primary body material.

Lever and Chain-Wheel Operating Options

SG800 models use lever operation for steam service up to 1,500 psi at 600°F. The lever allows operators to move the valve between open and closed positions quickly.

L200 and SG700 models use chain wheels for service up to 3,000 psi at 700°F. Therefore, users can select an operating method and pressure range that matches the installation.

Outside Screw and Yoke Design

All three series use an outside screw and yoke design. The stem bushing sits outside the valve body, away from high temperatures and corrosive fluids.

SG800 valves use a quadruple stem thread for quarter-turn lever movement. L200 and SG700 valves use a single-pitch stem thread for chain-wheel operation. Each thread configuration supports the operating method of its respective series.

Model-Specific Connection Configurations

Yarway water gauge isolation valves offer model-specific vessel and gauge connections. SG800 options include 3/4-inch male pipe connections and standard flanged connections.

L200 and SG700 models provide additional female, socket-weld and ring-type joint configurations. Selected SG700 models include a 1/2-inch Class 2500 RTJ gauge connection.

Ball-check arrangements also vary by model. Available configurations include no ball checks, lower-valve checks, checks in both valves or optional checks. Some models also offer unions or equalizer tubes.

Grafoil Packing Cartridges

Grafoil packing cartridges serve the operating stem and nipple gauge connections. The cartridge replaces loose, individual packing washers and supports leak-resistant operation.

Identical two-bolt packing yokes secure the cartridge. SG800 models include the Grafoil packing cartridge as standard equipment. L200 and SG700 models also use cartridges secured by two-bolt packing yokes.

Adjustable 18-Position Gauge Lever

The SG800 gauge lever locks positively in 18 positions. Operators can adjust the lever angle when the valve is closed, regardless of stem orientation.

This adjustment lets operators select the required handle position. Meanwhile, the quadruple stem thread moves the valve between open and closed positions with one-quarter lever movement.

Replaceable Stainless Steel Valve Seats

SG800 models use a one-piece 420F stainless steel replaceable seat. SG700 Series models also use a one-piece 420F stainless steel seat.

The hardened seat provides precise fit and flow surfaces. Furthermore, its one-piece construction supports faster renewal, improved performance and longer service life.

Blowdown Connection Options

The lower valve includes a connection for system blowdown. SG800 models use a 1/2-inch female NPT/socket-weld connection.

L200 and SG700 models use a 1/2-inch female socket-weld connection. The selected drain arrangement should match the installation and piping requirements.

Live-Loading Upgrade for SG800 Valves

The RK-34 live-loading kit upgrades installed SG800 Series valves. It improves leak resistance and service life under vibration, pressure changes, time in service and wear.

The kit includes cap screws, flat washers, a graphite packing cartridge, spring washers and instructions. New SG800 valves can also include live loading through the model-number option.

Applications

Yarway water gauge valves suit boiler and steam installations that require gauge isolation, blowdown access and application-specific connections. Users should select the model according to pressure, temperature, connection type and preferred operating method.

  • Boiler water gauge isolation
  • Boiler water column valve sets
  • Steam drum level gauge connections
  • High-pressure boiler level instrumentation
  • Lever-operated water gauge installations
  • Chain-wheel-operated water gauge installations
  • Replacement of compatible steel water gauge valve sets
  • Live-loading upgrades for installed SG800 Series valves

PRODUCT FAQ's

What do Yarway steel water gauge isolation valve sets do?
The valve sets provide isolation between a vessel and its water gauge or water column assembly. They also provide a lower-valve connection for blowdown.
Which series supports the highest pressure?
L200 and SG700 chain-wheel models support steam service up to 3,000 psi at 700°F. Actual pressure capability depends on the selected model. SG800 lever-operated models support steam service up to 1,500 psi at 600°F.
What is the difference between SG800 and SG700 water gauge valves?
SG800 models use an adjustable lever and a quadruple stem thread. They require one-quarter lever movement between open and closed positions. SG700 models use chain-wheel operation and a single-pitch stem thread. SG700 models also support higher maximum steam pressures.
Are ball checks included with every valve set?
No. Ball-check availability depends on the model. Some models include checks in both valves, while others include only a lower-valve check. Additional models offer optional checks or no ball checks.
What vessel and gauge connections are available?
Available vessel connections include male NPT, male socket weld, female socket weld, female and flanged configurations. Gauge connections include nipples, raised-face flanges, RTJ connections and large female flanges. The available combination depends on the selected model.
Can operators reposition the SG800 lever?
Yes. The SG800 lever provides positive locking in 18 positions. Operators can adjust its angle while the valve remains closed.
Can installed SG800 valves receive a live-loading upgrade?
Yes. The RK-34 live-loading retrofit kit fits installed SG800 Series valves. The kit helps improve leak resistance and service life under vibration, pressure changes and wear. New SG800 valves can include live loading by adding the specified “P” option to the model number.
How do I choose the right water gauge valve set?
The correct valve set depends on the system pressure, temperature and required connection types. You should also consider the operating style, ball-check arrangement, union requirements and equalizer tube availability. Westech can help identify the appropriate model for your installation.
Does Westech provide service support for Yarway water gauge valves?
Yes. Westech provides product selection, application review, technical coordination and service support. Our team can also help evaluate replacement and retrofit requirements.
Can Westech include these valves in a custom-fabricated system?
Yes. Westech Custom Fabrication can support larger projects that include boiler instrumentation or related measurement equipment. Capabilities include packaged systems, skids, panels, shelters and winterized assemblies.
Where are Yarway water gauge valves available through Westech?
Westech Industrial supplies these valve sets in Western Canada. The available territory includes Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
