PFS Rate of Flow Controller (HVT-FC)

The PFS HVT-FC Rate of Flow Controller provides precise, repeatable flow control for municipal and industrial transmission and processing applications. It combines Venturi-based flow measurement with a properly selected control valve arrangement to help improve accuracy, control stability, and long-term performance.

Flow control systems require more than a meter and valve installed in series. Each flow loop has unique conditions that affect accuracy, pressure loss, valve performance, and process reliability. The HVT-FC Rate of Flow Controller supports a more complete approach. It helps match the correct meter and valve combination to the application.

The PFS HVT-FC can use HVT Venturi styles such as FV, CI, DI, PI, FI, and RV series designs. It supports clear liquids, gases, contaminated fluids, solid-bearing fluids, high-viscosity fluids, and harsh line conditions. In addition, the HVT Venturi design has no moving parts, no annular chambers, and a long service life.

Westech Industrial offers the PFS HVT-FC Rate of Flow Controller Canada-wide. Our team can support product selection, service requirements, and integration needs. Westech also offers custom fabrication capabilities, including panels, analyzer shelters, sample systems, and project-specific assemblies for industrial applications.

Description

Engineered Flow Control for Demanding Applications

The HVT-FC Rate of Flow Controller helps operators control flow with greater confidence. It suits applications where flow accuracy, repeatability, and process integrity matter. Therefore, it works well in municipal water, wastewater, and industrial processing systems.

Incorrect sizing can create higher energy costs, unstable process control, or equipment damage. In water treatment applications, poor control can also affect filter bed performance. The HVT-FC addresses these concerns through proper flow loop analysis and optimized equipment selection.

Venturi-Based Design with No Moving Parts

The HVT Venturi flow element has no moving parts. As a result, it supports long product life and reduces maintenance concerns. The design also offers lower susceptibility to erosion compared with many conventional flow control options.

Because the Venturi does not use annular chambers, it avoids common plugging concerns. This design helps maintain reliable performance in applications with contaminated or solid-bearing line fluids. It also supports use in high-velocity flow measurement applications.

Accurate, Repeatable Performance

The HVT-FC Rate of Flow Controller supports a repeatability of ±0.1%. Basic accuracy is available at ±0.25% calibrated or ±0.50% 2 Sigma uncalibrated. This level of performance helps operators maintain stable flow control across critical processes.

The system also supports turndown ratios of 10:1, 20:1, 50:1, and greater. Actual turndown depends on the meter model, meter design, and secondary instrumentation. This flexibility helps facilities match the system to specific process demands.

Flexible Installation for Challenging Piping Layouts

The PFS HVT-FC mounts in any position. It also provides no downstream installation effect and minimal upstream effect. In addition, special shortened laying lengths can support limited-space installations.

This makes the Rate of Flow Controller a strong option for retrofit projects. It can help facilities upgrade older flow control systems without major piping changes. The design also supports special lay-length requirements for existing piping constraints.

Built for Water and Wastewater Systems

The HVT-FC supports raw water, potable water, filter effluent, backwash, washwater, and wastewater applications. NSF-61 approved materials or coatings come standard for potable water service. Common materials include cast iron or ductile iron bodies with 304 or 316 stainless steel sleeved throat sections.

The controller can include AWWA C504-compliant butterfly valves, isolation valves, and modulating control valves. Valve options can include butterfly or plug-type designs, depending on the application. For optimized control, PFS can also support system K analysis and custom valve sizing recommendations.
