Our panel shop is authorized to apply the Certification Mark for the custom industrial control panels built in accordance to the UL508A and CSA C22.2#286 standards.
Our products are integrated in various NEMA enclosure (with ratings 1, 2, 4, 4X, 12, 7, 3R) in a free standing or wall mount design. Internal heating and cooling systems are designed to cover a large temperature operating range as well as to maintain the specified temperature limits for the main electrical components.
Our programming engineers can offer support for different equipment manufacturers and types of programming language.
APPLICATIONS:
Our industrial control panels are used for motor/pump control and equipment protection, process monitoring, control and communication (including flare ignition and control), safety control and alarming (Fire and Gas Systems), and many other applications across a wide range of industries.

- VFD (variable frequency drive) and soft starter panels are used in industrial applications that require electrical motors and associated feed pumps control via a voltage and frequency-controlled output.

The control allows the pump to be slowed to limit the number of the required starts. That decreases the number of failures, operation cost and the stress effect of high inrush currents on the motor windings. Our systems are selectable to work in manual mode or auto using the integration of POCs (Pump Off Controllers).

The control allows a torque limitation to reach a safe level while in operation. During a torque limit the VFD will trade off speed to ensure that the torque does not exceed that preset safe limit. Our systems are selectable to work in manual mode or auto using the integration of POCs (Pump Off Controllers).

The VFD controls the excess of energy generated by the motor while lowering the rod string.Line filtering is built in to reduce harmonic distortion.

Programmable Logic Controller panels are control systems used in industrial automation to monitor and control various processes and machinery. Human Machine Interfaces provide access to programming, settings, monitoring, trends, historian, alarms and shut-downs, communication, and other functions that will optimize the way the operator can access and interpret the data received and transmitted from and to the process.
Process inputs can include physical property parameters (flow, temperature, pressure, density, viscosity etc.) as well as level, speed, vibration and other type of signals that are being measured and monitored to avoid upsets, loss of containment, damage to equipment, injuries.PLC/HMI panels can communicate to other equipment like MCCS, VFDs, and data acquisition systems and can be easily connected to the internet for allowing remote control. - Flare Control Systems
All new installations or upgrades of gas fired appliances must now comply with Canadian Standards Association safety standard, CSA B149.3. From new installs to retrofit upgrades, Westech has the experience and expertise to assist in the designing of the flare control panels and ensuring the overall compliance of your flare system by interfacing and working with the local Authority Having Jurisdiction. To pass the field inspection, all valves, solenoids, transmitters, switches, flame scanners, igniters, control panels/burner management systems are subject to evaluation and must be certified in accordance with specific standards. Our team can also assist in the selection and procurement of the system components.
Through our ETL panel shop program, Westech can design and build a custom Flame Control Panel that will interface with certified gas train components tailored to meet your project's specific requirements. - Safety Monitoring and Alarming (Gas detection panels)
Gas detection systems are important safeguards for any facility safety management system. Protecting personnel, equipment, and business reputation is paramount for any operator that deals with potential combustible and toxic gas releases. Westech gas detection panels are based on customized PLC programming to meet each customer specific needs. Analog and/or digital signals coming from the sensors are processed and alarms are rationalized and stored. The functions programmed into the panels’ HMI include but are not limited to calibration and maintenance, active alarms event viewer, sensor setup, trends, alarm log, and signal simulation. Our panels will provide local alarming and safely interfaced outputs with other client alarm systems.Westech has a large experience in providing turn-key solutions for fire and gas detection systems. That includes advanced engineering for fire and gas detection mapping based on the ISA TR84.00.07 (Guidance on the Evaluation of Fire, Combustible Gas, and Toxic Gas System Effectiveness) principles, procurement, installation, commissioning, start-up and maintenance of such systems. - Sampling and quality measurement skids/buildings

Westech quality measurement solutions include the calibration of instruments, as well as a strong quality control and testing during the construction phase. The buildings/skids can be constructed in our Calgary yard or at customer’s site. Our Integration and Service teams can provide smooth start up, commissioning and maintenance services for those critical measurement systems.
QMB – Quality Measurement Building
Using precise instrumentation equipment, a quality skid or building will analyze product samples to ensure the product quality meets or exceeds all required process conditions before the product reaches the custody transfer point. The product is analyzed by its specific density, viscosity and water cut specifications predefined by the pipeline operator for custody transfer.
CTIB – Custody Transfer Instrumentation Building
CTIB is a facility that provides accurate and repeatable measurements of hydrocarbons changed in business transactions between the different operators. In the case of custody transfers, errors in measurements of high volumes of product would translate in very expensive loses on one side of the transaction. Because of their importance, custody transfers are usually regulated by institutions and standards as American Gas Association (AGA), American Petroleum Institute (API), national metrology standards.
- Metering skids/buildings
Pipeline or truck loading/offloading metering skids/buildings are used to complete custody transfer of oil products between different business entities. Westech can build reliable and compliant systems tailored to the client’s project specific requirements.LACT - Lease Automatic Custody Transfer unit is a piece of equipment which facilitates accurate measuring of the volume and quality of a petroleum product transferred automatically between different business entities.Usually, the LACT unit is designed and constructed with the following components: a charge pump, inline strainer, water cut meter, auto sampling system, custody transfer flowmeter, flow computer, prover connections, process transmitters for pressure and temperature, and a back pressure control valve.Normally, the LACT unit will be connected to an open feedline and stock tank. When the level in the tank rises and reaches high set point, it turns on the LACT unit and the transaction begins. The transaction continues until the control level reaches a low set point, and the LACT unit will turn off.
Truck loading/offloading system provides accurate measurements of petroleum products that are delivered by truck and unloaded into storage tanks for custody transfer. The system includes the unloading system process instrumentation for level, pressure and flow measurements, a storage system, loading and unloading pumps, control panels for alarms and shutdowns, control panels for motors starters, ticketing shack. HAZLOC certification. Westech solution ensures reliable, accurate and repeatable measurements that minimizes accounting errors while meeting all related industry regulation and standards.
